short fear

ok, so there were a bunch of signs that a local top was in place, and today validated that with an early drop. But, for the shorts, I have to say I have lingering painful memories of PPT rescues with enormous short squeeze volume by EOD, whenever the market was on the precipice of a black hole. For the last several years, shorting has been like touching a burning flame for me, it could go in your favor for a day or two, and then the dreaded impulse squeeze, prefereably (to the mms) on negative news.

How do shorts get over this fear? And also, I recall putting in stops were futile as the market squeezed upwards so quickly, the execution was horrible.

Am i the only one who has developed squeezophobia in the last couple of years?
