Seykota / Van Tharp / etc seminar?

I am a trend following stock trader who is mostly self-taught over the last 7 years. For the last 3 years, I have been consistently profitable.

However, learning is an ongoing process, and I want to "take it to the next level."

I am looking at attending one of the following seminars, and would like input.

Van Tharp Peak Perf 101 - ???? $ / 3 days

O'Neil IBD Advanced Seminar - $2995 / 1 day (!)

Curtis Faith/David Bromley seminar - $2995 / 3 days

Hi:
I am not a fan of these short seminars. I don't see much value added in the short or long term from attendance. If you want to see a significant change in your profitability, learn to research, develop a basis for understanding your results by studying parametric statistics, and make sure you have your execution methods down pat. Ed Seykota. Without question. Curtis Faith - I don't know that much about him, but I understand he is also extremely good. I thought Van Tharp was dead!


But to reiterate, I believe there is no better trader in the world than Ed Seykota.
 
buy Van k. Tharp`s "trade your way to financial freedom" its the only book you will ever need on position sizing and risk/reward.

I still do not understand why "great/superstar tarders" give seminars. I can understand free-coaching, teaching, mentoring, but I cannot undrstand hawking seminars.
 
Has Seykota been managing money recently? I know he gained his reputation from results in the 70's and early 80's.

I was also curious if anyone knew if Al Weiss was a student of Seykota. They both lived in Encinitas, CA back during the above time period.

I once lived in the same town as Seykota and his former girlfriend.

From what I understand from conversations with her, Seykota declared personal bankruptcy in 1992 or thereabouts. I've tried to find some record of it online but I only find references to an IRS case about the same time "Seykota v. Commissioner".

Can anyone confirm this?

Any idea why a great trader would declare bankruptcy? Do all great traders eventually blow up?

I also heard that his seminars are all about emotions and psychology rather than trading. Did anyone attend his last seminar?
