Setting up a mutual fund rather than private offering...?

I knew a money manager who thought about setting up a mutual fund after being Nelsons top 10 10 year managers....

$2 million just to set it up, which he didn't end up doing because he was only making $500k a year in the business, this was in 2005, I imagine compliance is even worse now.

I'm currently trading exchanged-listed commodity futures/options. I charge 0% management fees in my fund; I'm opposed to the idea in general, and more importantly, have enough of my own assets in the fund that I don't have a problem covering operational "expenses" out of hand. I charge 30% incentive fees.

All in all, sounds like I should stay with my current CPO route.

11-months into this, I'm so far pleased with my funds' performance... (3+ Sharpe, 65% annualized returns, 7% max DD). I'm just looking for an "easier" way to fund-raising.

Wow with returns like that you will have no problem raising money, just keep doing what you are doing. I would list your reutrns on iasg and autumn gold if you haven't yet

For example, maybe in a year or two, I'll pay the $15k to give this thing a try: http://www.roundtableforum.com/[/url]

Good choice. This is an excellent event, among the best I've attended.
