Series 7: Can I pay for sponsorship?

Heya Peeps,

I'm thinking about getting my Series 7, mostly for educational purposes. It requires a broker/dealer sponsorship.

Is it acceptable to approach a broker/dealer, and ask for sponsorship in return for payment? Not sure what I would offer; obviously enough to cover the exam fee (USD290 at this time), and their expenses, plus something for their trouble.

Would a broker/dealer find this to be an offensive, laughable, or unprofessional proposition? Would this be in violation of any laws?

u have to work for them (or for any broker dealer) after getting ser. 7.

otherwise it will expire...

again if only for education u can study without taking the test... not much education imho, but depending of your goals

Series 7 is not really education that you will find useful at all in being a trader. Most of the Series 7 is just understanding what the products are your fiduciary responsibilities with clients and their money. Basically how to be a broker, not anything about how to trade or invest. That is why you cannot listen to financial advisors with nothing more than a Series 7. Does not make them any nmore qualified. I got my Series 7 when I traded prop for a while because it wqs required but the test serves no other purpose.

I guarantee you that it will serve no purpose for your education, simply go to the bookstore and look for what you want to learn.

It would be in violation of FINRA regulations. It would be referred to as parking licenses. No firm would want to do that. What are your educational goals? And are your goals for self enrichment or to impress a future employer?
