Hello, I've been searching for reference material on this exam for a few weeks. I've tried bigmike, WSO, and here at ET but no legit information yet. I'll be joining a Prop firm soon after taking the exam. I purchased the cram material guide from Amazon, but something tells me it's too easy, I've already taken their 'practice' questions and score 90%. However, other sites have far more in depth sample questions. Has anyone here taken the 57, or currently studying that can point me to a credible resource? Thanks in advance.

I have used them three times to take exams. $275, but very good. You know I don't think you can take any FINRA exams without a sponsor. I think you have to be U4ed then they can place you in the system to get an exam date. You should talk to the prop firm you want to join before you spend anymore time and money. They might have study material to use.

Perhaps you can check with the prop firm itself for training materials. Their SRO may have more information on exam criteria. The sample questions on the CBOE exam guide (when the Series 56 was required) were MUCH easier than the actual test, so it's probably better to wait and see if other exam prep companies generate any newer study courses.
rmorse: just any fyi, the Series 65 is a FINRA exam that doesn't require a sponsor, just a U10 form (and of course, the filing fee).

Thanks for the info. I've already set that all up. Sadly though I was only directed to the cram book on Amazon. I'll ask if he has any other resources before I go ahead and sign up for a course.
I took it and failed. I was using stc and passperfect material. I was getting 90 on the practice tests and got 68 on the real exam. Out of 7 of us 5 failed. It was very hard and also very different from the practice tests of the 56. My advice would be to read the full material and understand all the concepts instead of focusing on practice tests. Questions are meant to trick you and whoever made the test must be a bitter person.

In the past, every other person I know that failed using STC, used old material then they change the exam. If you're sharing material with other people you need to make sure it's not dated as they change the exam from time to time.
We were using their new 57 material that has only been out for a two months. Our firm had a passing rate of 98% before our class. Everyone told us to concentrate on the practice tests. That was our mistake. The new exam is significantly harder than the old ones. I dont think stc and passperfect have received enough feedback from the new exam to change their practice tests. If you are giving this exam please focus on the material, finra and sec websites. Also learn how to eliminate answers and guess correctly because there will be a lot of stuff you didnt know especially if you just started in the industry.
