I miss the old days, when Republicans stood for repealing Obamacare. Republicans across the country and every member of my caucus campaigned on repeal – often declaring they would tear out Obamacare “root and branch!”
What happened?

Now too many Republicans are falling all over themselves to stuff hundreds of billions of taxpayers’ dollars into a bill that doesn’t repeal Obamacare and feeds Big Insurance a huge bailout.

Obamacare regulations? Still here. Taxes? Many still in place, totaling hundreds of billions of dollars.

Insurance company bailouts? Those, too. Remember when Republicans complained about Obamacare’s risk corridors? Remember when we called the corridors nothing more than insurance company bailouts? I remember when one prominent GOP candidate during a presidential debate explicitly called out the Obamacare risk corridors as a bailout to insurance companies. Does anyone else?

Now, the Senate GOP plan being put forward is chock full of insurance bailout money – to the tune of nearly $200 billion. Republicans, present company excluded, now support the idea of lowering your insurance premium by giving a subsidy to the insurance company.

Remarkable. If the GOP now supports an insurance stabilization fund to lower insurance prices, maybe they now support a New Car stabilization fund to lower the price of cars. Or maybe the GOP would support an iPhone stabilization fund to lower the price of phones.

The possibilities are limitless once you accept that the federal government should subsidize prices. I remember when Republicans favored the free choice of the marketplace.

The Senate Obamacare bill does not repeal Obamacare. I want to repeat that so everyone realizes why I’ll vote “no” as it stands now:

The Senate Obamacare bill does not repeal Obamacare. Not even close.

In fact, the Senate GOP bill codifies and likely expands many aspects of Obamacare.

The Senate Obamacare-lite bill codifies a federal entitlement to insurance. With the Senate GOP bill, Republicans, for the first time, will signal that they favor a key aspect of Obamacare – federal taxpayer funding of private insurance purchases.

The bill will transfer billions of dollars to people who will then transfer billions of dollars to insurance companies. What a great business model – encourage the federal government to use taxpayer money to buy a private company’s product. Great business model, that is, if you are Big Insurance. Remarkable.

The Senate Obamacare-lite bill does what the Democrats forgot to do – appropriate billions for Obamacare’s cost-sharing reductions, aka subsidies. Really? Republicans are going to fund Obamacare subsidies that the Democrats forgot to fund?

Doesn’t sound much like repeal to me. One might even argue it’s worse than Obamacare-lite because it actually creates a giant superfund to bail out the insurance companies – something even the Democrats feared to do.

I was first elected in the heady days of the Tea Party Tidal Wave, when tens of thousands of citizens gathered on the central city lawn to protest Big Government, Big Debt, and a government takeover of health care.

This citizenry won in four elections. Each time, the GOP establishment told conservatives, “We can’t repeal Obamacare until we have all three branches of government.” Finally, in 2016, that came to pass. Republicans now control all three branches of government.

And . . . the best that is offered is Obamacare-lite: keeping the Obamacare subsidies, keeping some of the Obamacare taxes, creating a giant insurance bailout superfund, and keeping most of the Obamacare regulations.

Shame. Shame on many in the GOP for promising repeal and instead affirming, keeping, and, in some cases, expanding Obamacare. What a shame.

You know you're in trouble when regardless of who's in office the current situations stay the same.

Oh they like to keep their bases fired up and divided with fringe topics but when you get down to the core. Dem/Rep are just two sides of the same coin.

Wow am I surprised. It's almost like the republicucks pander to middle class voting blocs but get their marching orders from big business, in this case health insurers.

This is eerily similar to the situation with university tuition. The government stepped in with scholarships and loan guarantees to ensure that no one was left behind. The universities greedily raised prices to vacuum up all the government money. End of the day, only the super rich can afford college now.

Just like the Tea Party Republicans.

Campaigned on one set of promises but turned into something else once they got to Washington.

Shame on all of us for trusting their lying spew.

:(

the establishment is crooked.
its why trump got elected.
if trump can't get these crooks to work for us... we won't vote for them.
and next time we will elect rand paul.

trump has a job to do. fight these sobs tooth and nail using the bully pulpit or leave.
This is the time. Trump could get all this russia shit behind him... if he showed the same balls as president that he did during the republican debates.

he should be calling these guys out the way he called out jeb.

he has nothing to lose at this stage,. His presidency will be a flop if he does not start listening to voters and the Mark meadows types... and probably bannon.

The GOP has had the opportunity in the past, controlling all branches, and failed then too to deliver.

This is a blatant disregard for the GOP base. Lies, lies and more lies.

Never again.

Trump is very angry. He is sitting , waiting at his desk for the bill to come to him so he can sign it.

Trump: I’ll be ‘very angry’ if Senate doesn’t pass ObamaCare repeal bill

President Trump said he’ll be “very angry” if Senate Republicans aren’t able to pass a bill to repeal and replace ObamaCare, as GOP leaders get ready to unveil their updated legislation.

Trump said Republicans have been promising for years that they’d repeal ObamaCare, and now with Republicans controlling Congress and the White House, he said he’s “waiting” to sign a repeal bill. If Senate Republicans aren't able to pass their bill, known as the Better Care Reconciliation Act, he said that’d be “very bad.”

"Well, I don't even want to talk about it, because I think it would be very bad. I will be very angry about it and a lot of people will be very upset,” Trump said during an interview with Christian Broadcasting Network’s Pat Robertson.

“But I'm sitting waiting for that bill to come to my desk. I hope that they do it. They've been promising it for years.

Donald this is not like the building inspector or local govt official who is waiting for that big holiday check.... and then he will let you develop your property...

These guys are professional liars drunk on poltical power who work for cronies tied to the private central banks. They are eating you up and destroying your name, your future and your kids future.

Kushner might be too stupid to realize this... but the goldman guys are democrats and they are working with establishment republicans leaders to cnn you and the legacy you created.

Someone loses... either Trump or the establishment. You were a long shot... we gave you a shot... but so far you are weighed and found wanting.

Only congress can repeal obamacare.Trump can get as angry as he wants congress is not afraid of a 1 term unpopular president who lost by 3 million votes and has a 39 % approval rating who is under special prosecutor investigation.

Trump could still say enough and get on t.v. everyday and call out the republican traitors one by one until they join him in fully repealing obamacare and cutting taxes and wasteful spending.

He needs to be combative with the establishment... he is getting nowhere working with them.
If he called them out everyday he would get re elected and they would get primaried.

What does he have to lose?
He has to do this soon or it will be too late to oppose them.
