Senate approves bill repealing much of ObamaCare

Sigh...this is just the latest installment in these assholes' "pretend to oppose something while you actually approve" it ploy. They are passing a massive budget busting omnibus spending bill that fully funds not only obamacare but obama's insane refugee program. Thanks for nothing republicans.

Remember when reptards on this board were wringing their hands with glee after the midterms, the House was going to send so many bills to Obama and he was going to veto them all and become the "president of no"? Has his veto pen even been used? Lmao.
:)

i think you misrepresent our skepticism about boehner and mcconnell and the leadership even then. I recall wanting them to send budget items through item by item so they could defund obamacare. We knew they were untrustworthy. But, I will admit have been in more traitorous than expected... actually doing Pelosi, Reids and Obama's work for them.

I'm on the fence about passing legislation surely doomed to be vetoed.

On one hand it seems futile and a waste of energy but I suppose that those saying it is necessary are probably right. It puts people on the record formally and possibly some will be held accountable among their constituents.

Obamacare is failing on its own due simply to the inability of the scheme to spread risk (and costs) as was intended. Obama was going to reimburse the insurance companies for their losses but that has been prevented by the bill banning insurance company "bailouts" so the entire schema will fail without symbolic repeal.

The bottom line is this: If a democratic president tells you he is going to lower your medical costs and you can keep your doctor in the process you can be assured he is bald faced lying. Extrapolate as needed.

This is why I think legislation promised should be attempted, even if it is known that it will be vetoed...even repeatedly. The problem is, most voters don't bother to check the voting records of their candidates (the one's that have records). They just take whatever is fed them by the candidates and/or the media at face value. That somewhat lessons the accountability being attempted. That said, a promise is a promise, unless one is a politician...then it's usually just another lie to get elected.

I don't have a problem with symbolic votes. But don't pretend you are going to repeal the presdient's signature bill, then roll over at the first sign of opposition.

The republicans have handed over all leverage to obama because of their dread of a government shutdown, which they somehow are convinced hurts them only. Even though they scored a big victory less than a year after the last shutdown. What they mean is a shutdown interferes with delivering pork to their corporate masters. Anyone notice how desperate they were to get rid of the sequestor, the only real tool we had for reining in the deficit?

How about at least running on a platform that you will do whatever it takes to stop obamacare, including shutdowns? Or run on a platform that you will hold meaningless votes, then vote to fund it completely? Either way, voters know what they are getting.

Of course, the lying on immigration/amnesty is even worse. They run on a pretend platform of opposing something they are desperate to get enacted. That can be a little tricky and leads to extremely pissed off voters who suddenly get passionate about the one guy they cannot even comprehend being president, Trump.

I see it exactly the same way.

For whatever reason the republicans are so afraid of government shutdown that they announced their pre-capitulation publicly. They literally gave away the only lever they had.
