Self proclaimed genius Bill Maher Claims 42% of budget goes to defense.

Quote from Mav88:

yo dipshit, the income tax was instituted to pay for the military, not to have the government wipe your ass.

and secondly dipshit, we still get taxed for entitlements as well, so stop pretending they don't count

yeah, the income tax was an emergency measure, temporary...

Quote from futurecurrents:

What Is Discretionary Spending?:

Discretionary spending is that part of the U.S. Federal Budget that is negotiated between the President and Congress each year as part of the budget process. It includes everything that is not in the mandatory budget, which are programs required by law to provide certain benefits, such as Social Security and Medicare. (See Federal Budget - Mandatory Spending)
What Was Proposed in the FY 2013 Discretionary Budget?:

Discretionary spending in the FY 2013 budget was slashed to $1.264 trillion. The request for military spending was lowered to $851 billion. This includes the Defense Department, Overseas Contingency Operations and other defense-related departments like Homeland Security and the State Department.

So 67% of discretionary spending is for the military.

What is your most important issue for this election? Taxes, economy, deficit, seem to be a popular concern................... and it all relates to a ridiculously, absurdly, insanely, stupidly, bloated defense dept.

The majority of the citizens, having no idea how much it costs say " Yeah, the USA must be able to kick serious ass. Rah rah, go team. We must be able to destroy the Muslim enemy and leave a smoking crater in the ME." .........They really have no idea how much they pay for it and they are usually brain-dead righties.

We don't have to raise taxes or cut social services. We just need to cut the military budget.
Well there you go : eliminating the state dept and homeland security sounds like a good "starting" point .

Guess you missed the part where Maher said "We spend 42% of our TOTAL BUDGET on defense."

We could set the military budget to zero, and it still wouldnt balance the budget. Do people on the left even understand basic math?

Prove it if you think what you wrote is correct, but you would realize it's wrong if your proof is right.

Jesus Christ, Im starting to think you guys are just fucking with me, nobody can be this stupid.

2010 defense budget was 683 billion
2010 deficit was 1.3 trillion

1.3 trillion - 683 billion = 681.7

If you took the entire defense budget off of 2010 spending you are left with a 681.7 billion dollar deficit.

I used 2010 cause i couldnt find 2011 and 2012 isnt done. The numbers will be the same.

You remind me of this fat little retarded turd off Bad Santa.
