Hi everybody,

I' d like to ask you, if there's somebody who has an idea how to create a self adapting indicator.

What I mean is, if you use an simple indicator like moving average crossover to create a pure reversal system, then you'll find certain times where it works and others where not.

I believe the problem is the fixed parameter used in those indicators. They only work if they fit to the current market behaviour.

Hope I made myself clear, any suggestions or questions ?

Regards, Ralf

Thank you for your answers....

in the meantime I changed my point of view. Looking for a self adapting indicator i feel is too much like searching the holy grail.

given fix indicator parameters the way I try to develop is to think about how to handle drawdown situations.

Best, Ralf

some say this is a leading indicator.

10 and 30 week MAs reflect certain cycles reccurring in the markets. There are many more. Research and identify the main ones on year, month, week (see above) and day, for each market being analysed. Dont forget to count TRADING DAYS and not just calendar days etc. Let me know how you get on.
