Care to share a few words about NQ for those of us in the dark?

How would you compare/characterize it relative to NQ/ES?

One of the things I find hard about ES and also NQ is the huge amount of back-filling. You really need to have some conviction in a trade and just hold it.

I think an instrument that trends better would be easier to trade.

I am not sure to be able to answer your question as I haven’t traded much lately.

I feel NG is a bit like NQ but less volatile PnL wise. My biggest loss on NQ was due to a backfill, was positioned on the right side but I couldn’t handle the wide fluctuations. I experienced backfill on NG but nothing like NQ.

Trendy instrument requires more patience because there is less signals. Once it breaks out you get less entry opportunities than with more volatile markets.

Commodities appear to be trendier than Indexes maybe because they are less crowded markets.

Can’t tell for sure as we’d need more in depth analysis.

One advice I could give is to stay in your trade with conviction until the current candle doesn’t close outside the previous candle in the opposite direction of your trade.

What’s your main timeframe ?

We had some volatility on NG but it never closed below the highest low so there is no reason to turn bearish.

Thanks for that reply. Maybe I'll pull up a few charts and look into NG.

A profitable method on both ES/NQ can be to scalp it for quick 4-12 tick moves. It's hard to hold through long periods of chop when the market is going nowhere and seems like it's both selling off and rallying, but not really going anywhere.

I liked the period I was scalping because you're very quickly in and out. The problem with the scalping approach, though, is that you do need that high win rate or else you're toast on the next bad / impulsive trade.

I don't have a main time frame per se. I just try to anticipate the day ahead and see if I can capture a piece of it. The larger, the better. Not always easy, though.

Took small trades on NG
Wasn’t confident but these were all long.
At the end of the day I could have holded my 1st trade and make more money.

Breakouts on the 1min aren't reliable.
