I'll tell you, you can't go wrong with the "Dummies" series of books. In all seriousness, those books are great.
But, if you would like to have a more formal and/or thorough body of knowledge, think about enrolling in a "Financial Accounting I" class at your local university or community college. You'll get ALOT out of that class.
