I would refrain from using names but yeah it's a small world. Folks start their own shops while they are on non-competes and then move back if things don't work out. Folks live here and still trade for East Coast firms remotely. Bay Area is beautiful.. and now home to one of the biggest spoofers at CME.
i960: not everyone here is a retail. On these forums you can find a day trader who trades one thousand lots in a single order (maybe the ES if not the CL), you can find HFTs who trade thousands of lots day in day out and you can also find folks who will not trade a single lot for the rest of their lives. "Us against the market" mentality died in the 80's, if it ever had a life at all...

I trade, while instant messaging on Skype, Hangout & WeChat. Also, browse the web and listen to music. I guess different strokes for different folks.
And different quantity of size as well, don't know your size, but say you had 200 ES or 20 CL lots on, are you still inclined to be playing with your devises while in a trade? Am curious? Also, level of signals taken, you might take 2-6 trades for entire day whereas I take 10-30 trades in 75 minutes, you might go for larger profits and I am scalper-longest I am in a trade in always under four minutes. Don't know bout the different strokes for different folks but do know it costs me money by not watching the screen.
Yes, even if I was trading big size. Reason being is that these distractions help lessen the emotional effect of trading for me. I just feel more comfortable trading this way.
Yes, I take less than 10 trades per day...but I also scalp (4-5 ticks).
I am willing to skype if you trade CL around 10 AM - 11.50 AM PST. Let me know. However, please note that if I mention a trade that is opposite of your trade and my trade works out, I don't want you to be mad at me. Some traders were upset that I was right and they were wrong.
