Hi. I'm fairly new to trading and have dedicated the last few weeks to studying and learning the markets. Anyway, does anyone have any advice on taking care of your eyes? This is the first time I've had a job staring at a computer screen and not sure what I can do. I'm trading on a 27" 2018 IMAC using Interactive Brokers's TWS and it seems to being burning into my brain. Watching the trading book reminds of the 80's movie "Runaway", with Tom Selleck and the little mechanical spiders running up and down. Or I'm reminded of the infamous scene when Leo and Matthew have their talk. Would appreciate any help. Thanks
Your thread title "Seeing Charts and Numbers in my sleep" is in contrast to your explanation.
Thus, if you're actual explanation is the real issue...you're having problems with your eyes after a few weeks of computer work...
Go see an
eye doctor for consultation...
not us that will provide answers to what you stated you're
not sure what you can do. Most eye doctor places these days give a
free eye exam and make sure you tell the
Optometrist your new job whatever that may be. You probably already know this about a free eye exam at your local Optometrist office.
Yet, if you're actually talking about (job) something you're doing at home...there's many free articles online about proper computer use...eye distance from monitor, height of monitor, room lighting and other free articles about computer use for those viewing graphics work...the latter appropriate for those viewing charts.
My point, you naming 27" IMAC using IB TWS is pointless. In contrast, giving your Optometrist a photo (use your cell phone to take a quick video) of you watching those charts will give the Optometrist all the info they need to understand your "eye problems".
Also, you didn't mention your location (city) nor if your source of lighting in the room...it all makes a big difference. I'll explain why, someone else posted just like you just did here in this message post. Later, a month later (yeah...it took him another month to reveal the true details)...his office desk was next to a window that others in the office wanted to keep open...there was nearby heavy construction and the dust from the construction was causing him irritation in his eyes but his co-workers were not complaining...just him complaining.
His Optometrist recommended he either move his work desk to a new office with window
closed, convince his co-workers to close the window or he wears special goggles while he worked at the desk to prevent the dust from irritating his eyes.
In contrast, if you're really talking about seeing charts & numbers in your sleep...go see a psychiatrist or psycho-therapist...seriously...your mind needs rest from your daily chart viewing/studying activities...
sleep is a cleanser. A mind that doesn't get the proper rest from your daily activities, you will soon start showing cracks and will eventually result in a burn-out or spectacular blowup of your trading account (loss of your money).
If you can't fix this simple problem on your own about your eye strain or mind strain (not sure which you're talking about)...you now know that trading is something that's
not suitable for you.
