A second account, homed on a different server farm (i.e. CH or HK instead of US). Still not a good backup, IMO, since there are situations where both feeds could be down. I'd go with another provider (eSignal, etc.).
You can create a second user account but will need to resubscribe to the data feed and therefore must cover $60 a month in commissions instead of $30. Open a help desk ticket to ask about it if the "help" isn't helpful enough....
I have two accounts at IB, one regular and one IRA. As long as I trade 30.00 in one account it satisfies the minimum for both accounts. Just for your information.
