Well, the ViaDucts are down and that is for the good. The future starts getting questionable from there.

The artists/planners renderings do not show a single homeless tent in the area to become a waterfront park. No one in Seattle or on the planet though - who is familiar with the situation on the ground there- thinks that that whole area will be anything other than a massive encampment area to be avoided.

Yeh, all that woke stuff is repugnant and will alienate people- both the residents and visitors- but that is not really a big worry because people will avoid the area and just write it off as they increasing do in many parts of west coast cities that have "been improved" by the lefties to the point where they are no longer liveable. It's what they do.

And what a great staging ground for the marxists that that "waterfront park" will be. They can occupy that area permanently and go forth on a daily basis to destroy the local businesses to show how much love they have in their hearts for the underprivileged.

Fucking idiots all of them. The artist rendering should show people shooting up and taking a dump on the sidewalk right in the middle of the day in front of tourist because that's what is is gonna look like. Just keepin it real. Maybe include a few illegals shooting some visitors on the pier to give it that old San Francisco-Kate Steinle look and feel that Seattle and Portland are always trying for.

So funny how everyone on the left, including all those on this site, completely and regularly ignore the goings on in Portland in Seattle.
 
While in other cities companies are working out plans to bring their people back to the office post-pandemic keeping health and human factors in mind --- in Seattle it is different companies are most concerned with the homeless camps and crime when trying to bring their people back into the office.

Funny how the resident dummy from Maine thinks he has something to say about excellent business centers like San Francisco, Seattle, or Toronto. What the fuck does he know about except maple syrup, fishing, or lumber ? It would be a good laugh to see the educational credentials of these mouthy idiots on here. We already know "Jem" who thinks he's an expert in data analysis and medical expertise has an Arts degree lol. I suppose if one wanted to dress up a lot of bs on these subject areas having an Arts degree might help. But it's still complete bs.

My read is that TreeFrogTrader managed to complete his high school diploma with some help being pushed along by his teachers. Definately no post secondary unless it's a two year technical program or maybe ... lol. ... an Arts degree.

I worked in Seattle every week over a decade ago for a period of six months. It was a pretty nice place back then -- I enjoyed visiting many of the attractions downtown that Seattle is famous for.

I guess it went to hell after I left.

Most of the complaints that past 5 years have involved the waterfront.

The gentrification from the 90's of 1st Avenue that drove the homeless people to the waterfront...

That gentrification has moved to the waterfront but the homeless have no where else to go. Those people have paid a pretty penny for their waterfront condos and can not stand the visual / smell of the homeless down there when in reality...the homeless were there first before those with money moved in to try to push out the homeless people.

Simply, they've put millions and millions of dollars into the waterfront.

I lived down there on the waterfront in a condo when I went to graduate school. Not many homeless people back then but it was a very safe place to walk around the waterfront at night.

I remember back then Seattle wanted to make the waterfront a big port for Cruise ships and the only way to do that was via gentrification of the area. I lived in one of the first luxury condos down there.

Recently I looked on Google map at the area...the place now has condos everywhere. There must obviously now be a lot of conflict with people that they think could depreciate the value of their condos / lifestyle.

Just wait until they try gentrification on Capitol Hill where a lot of the adult children of hippies / grunge / protesters / social fighters / gay community live at...same area as the summer riots...

They'll burn down the place before they let wealthy people move in or try to tell them how to live their life.
