Seattle Mayor Ed Murray so far is holding onto office despite disturbing claims he sexually abused four teenagers, including his foster son, in the 1980s – though calls are growing for him to resign ahead of November’s election.

Former Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn and current mayoral candidate Jessyn Farrell have joined those demanding Murray step down following a blistering report in The Seattle Times. The article revealed an Oregon child-welfare investigator concluded in 1984 that Murray sexually abused his foster son Jeff Simpson when he was a teenager.

“The time for denials and victim blaming is over,” McGinn, a Democrat, tweeted Sunday.
 
Shouldn't someone lose their living until proven guilty? Or at the very least until charges are filed?

In any case, the guy's reputation is ruined and his career is over, no matter what the truth is. I take it w/a grain of salt being fox news and all.

It's complicated. He is a gay guy and has been one of the major campaigners for marriage equality over the years in Seattle and ran a non-profit for gay rights. The lefties dont dare to touch that scenario because he is a gay rights hero and that's all that counts, and the abuse allegations feed into fears about gay men adopting kids and whether they are at higher risk. Not saying that I do or do not agree with any of those issues- only that for him to be or alleged to be a child molester is highly inconvenient for the libs in Seattle.

Of course he may not have done a damn thing. I don't know. Just saying these are one or two of the reasons why the powers that be there would like to see him quietly step down in december rather than charged. One of the alleged victims - keeping in mind that I don't know shiite about what actually happened- has temporarily withdrawn his civil lawsuit- saying that it works for him too to not have to go into court against a sitting mayor- but asking for a delay rather than a dismissal.

Could be an obstruction of justice issue there too. While I said that I don't know shiite, a couple investigators said they do.
