Search

Is there a way to use "Search" to find a list of post with attachments?

For instance, all post containing excel attachments in software forum.

If so, how do I do it?

If not, it would sure be nice to be able to do it.

Thanks

Not the perfect solution but try entering
.xls .png .jpg .gif
in the search box

Thanks for the suggestion.

I tried it, and it did not work.

That type of search is not possible right now. However, I do like the idea of having that type of functionality.

I have noticed that the search feature could be a
bit more robust generally.

searching for posts with attachments would be
a great one.

Also searching for phrases would rock and IMO
reduce a lot of redudant threads being started.
I find that if I search for something for a while
and can't find it I just say "screw it" and start a
thread. Lots of time someone will chime in
immediately with a prior thread on the same
subject.

Baron,

Another useful search would be a search within a thread, so a "search this thread" search.

As long as we're making suggestions :D

A way to "mark" threads we find in our searches, and have those "marks" in our account page, for later, or repeated reference, would also help.

I have inadvertently stumbled upon an undocumented feature, perhaps inserted as a backdoor by the software developers, which does in fact allow for a modified search of this type. The syntax is the same as for the advanced search, but with the addition of [file extension]>>[link]. The search engine returns a list of links. Following is an example :

To find all posts that contain "beautiful woman" and an attached .gif, enter the following :

beautiful AND woman [gif]>>[link]

The result is :
