Score One For America.

Quote from ERTW:

Anybody who votes for McCain because of this Bill will have it coming to them.

This is a pure political move. When McCain is in the office, it's not just a 700Billion bail out. It will be more, and more will go to the big corporations.

I fully believe in free markets, but it's just naive to think the House Republicans voted again the Bill for their love of free market. Why are people so gullible?

The money will be spent by the politicians eventually, you either spend it now, with some oversight, or spend it later(when McCain is in the office and the House Republicans get re-elected again) with no oversight.

Agreed.

How the f--k can anyone, democrat or republican entrust the government to essentially place a trade, for 700b no matter, on our behalf?

It sickens me that any American, let alone any trader, would think that allowing the government to take this trade is a good thing.

We're not buying the lows here, were adding to a huge f--king loser. This is also the Bush administration we are talking about here ... would you trust G.W.Bush to place a 700b trade on your behalf??? F--k NO!

Quote from Nofear777:

The biggest one thing to fear from a left wing liberal socialist is their decibles.

Their shrill screach for reformation of our democracy is by far louder than any voice of sanity that exists today.... except for today.

First off, I hate to break this to you but this is NOT a Democracy.

It is a Republic. If it were a Democracy then you would not merely have the House of Reps voting on this legislation.

FYI: I am a registered Republican.

It's really sad that the republican party has lost it's way. Since when did being a religious conservative equals to being a conservative?

People really seem to lose sight on what made America THE most powerful nation in the world. Historically, it's the combination of the scientific and economic advancement combined with personal liberty that trust America on top of the world stage.

The religious right wings are going to destroy everything that made America a dreamland for all.

Today, I was proud of my country.

The fact that not all politicians are sheep and do actually listen to their constituents is very encouraging.

This was a big win for free market America.

ps. Bill Gross can kiss my ass.

It's rather clear isn't it. The bailout as advertised was wildly unpopular. That's way so many voted against it. not necessarily because it is a bad plan or a bad idea -- though it may be -- but because it is wildly unpopular among the average citizen. Frankly, the average citizen has little understanding of what a credit crisis is, what a derivative is, or of the genesis of the present situation. A well educated population is essential to maintaining a democracy or even a more or less democratic republic, as the US is.

This has , so far, been helpful in getting us to a bottom somewhere in the 800 to 850 area far sooner than i thought we would get there. I expected it would be after the election, but now it seems we might get there before the election. If the democrats want to assure a a clean sweep in the fall they should delay doing anything about the financial crisis until after the election but make sure the republicans are blamed. They should hire Mr. Rove as a consultant to tell them how to pull this off.

Wrong.

The ivy league types got us into this mess so by your standards you got it backwards.

I wonder where the plunge protection team was today? Paulson, Bernanke.... hello... why the sudden change of policy?

Well we may still get stuck with this pig in the end, but at least for one brief moment I was proud that the government actually did what they were supposed to.

Don't give up calling your Reps - people get the govt they deserve.
