good traders make money because many times their mistakes are cushioned by their past successes. good traders also loose money.
it all depends on what comes first. On the floor (NYSE, i.e.) we used to give this speech to new traders (nephews, cousins, sons, daughters, and other close relatives; very club-ish you know).
If your success came during the roaring bull market, it didn't matter if you were the slowest of the bunch, you had unprecedented success. Recall some of those high flyers from the NASD that regularly went up over 27 points before noon time EST? Stuff like that makes anyone a "good trader".

Schonfeld pays on gross. Not worth the tradeoff of a slightly higher commission? (if a fraction of a penny makes a difference to your bottom line, you are most likely more interested in breaking even than having a positive p&l, so then getting paid on gross REALLY would benefit you).

not any more. 0.8 if over a million shares a month.
if under 1 million, then a penny. once you hit a million, ALL shares are at .8. bullets depend on how much volume you do. no more than 25/thousand. if you want software, you must pay. but, gr8trader has good charting, unlike redi+, so you won't need a charting platform.
