Um it doesn't matter if you use buy & hold or trade frequently. What matters is returns. The fund underperformed the markets between 2003-05 and 06 was just a slight beat.

Do you know why people invest with a CTA/CPO? Probably not, so I'll help you out: It's called non correlated return. Look it up and educate yourself a bit. It doesnt matter much for a guy/gal with no assets, but once you have a few bucks to your name, non correlation to the market is good. Thats why folks invest in stocks, bonds, gold, all kinds of crazy hedge funds, mutual funds, foreign stocks and bonds and CPO/CTA.

Thanks, Blackguard, Stupididiot, Surf, PohPoh, ASusilovic, GTS, GC, Goy, Midas, pkts, and BJL!

Thanks for making the point about diversification, GTS and Brandon.

What an exciting, August, hey? I used to work in insurance, and trading, as you know, is a way more interesting profession.

I'm looking forward to the job numbers on Friday and then the Fed meeting later this month and then the debut of the Fox business channel next month.

Good trading to you all in September!

What positions went bad? Anybody know?

(Aaron deserves credit for posting performance; he will get it back).

nice. just think where he would be if he did not trade at all during march or september. he seems to get clobbered during those months.

Short oil was the problem. We're out of the position and the market now, though, but not without taking large losses. I've been harshly reminded of the saying that "the market can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent."
