most people nowadays, but especially women, use the English language to shape reality - not express reality.
there are various grades of lawyers.
Some are very smart.
Some are very stupid.
I had some bad experiences with lawyers.
one example:
You failed to look at your back view mirror before you pressed your car brake.
Ended up the car behind you smashed onto your car.
be careful with the time you spend with your lawyer.
Once a female customer had sex with her lawyer.
The lawyer billed the customer for the time they had sex!

That is why I think the contract was signed like 2019 expecting huge summer release which got pushed back due to COVID and Disney+ was not really in the picture. Like the movie was going to end up there after a few months in the theaters but obviously now has changed. I don't see why Disney does not just cut her a small check since it obviously is giving Disney+ and their stock a huge boost they would not otherwise have right now.
And this is Disney's reaction (dick move imo) to Johansson's lawsuit:
There is no merit whatsoever to this filing. The lawsuit is especially sad and distressing in its callous disregard for the horrific and prolonged global effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Disney has fully complied with Ms. Johansson’s contract and furthermore, the release of Black Widow on Disney+ with Premier Access has significantly enhanced her ability to earn additional compensation on top of the $20M she has received to date.

Yeah it's the damn virus, wah wah that we have to move the movie onto streaming. If there was no virus, we would never think of releasing a moving onto streaming services to attract subscriptions and increase fees earnings with our so competitively priced $29.99 monthly subscription fee for premier access. And she's already made $20 million how dare she demand to be compensated according to what's set out in the contract? Everybody knows what's in the contract is flexible and is subject to change according to how much I want to make and how much I think the other person should make. I am Disney, goddamit!!
Like I said, I feel bad that Johansson's lawyer totally dropped the ball on her and didn't vet the contract properly to ensure the wording of the terms is exact but Disney is being a dick denying what they promised to Johansson and this statement is just showing them to be more of an a$$ than ever. If I were Disney, I would fire the PR guy and start negotiating with Johansson.

that's my read as well, no way Disney doesn't have an iron clad contract to screw her out of streams.
ScarJo dun goofed methinks. Get better lawyers. In her defense I think contract was drawn up pre-COVID so shit worked favorably for Disney. She wasn't hedged for Pandemic
Yeah Disney is ok to take advantage of virus to lock in new Disney+ subscribers by controlling content release to that platform but Scarlett is using the virus for profit....
Yeah but it's not ok to use the virus to change the interpretation of words in the contract in practical terms to suit its own profit-making needs to the detriment of others by.
