Dear Friend Scientist,
I want to thank you and the others for the insights !!
Be careful. Reread this stuff after a few days of watching T&S. As you see stuff, you will lose the idea that stops are involved. Then you will lose the idea that a trading log isinvolved. A view of a W/L tab might come up for you.
Exactly. Stops aren't a part of scalping. In scalping, your stops are momentum-volatility-and-time based. Essentially, you shave the ask/bid and get out as soon as momentum stalls. This kind of 'arbitrary' stop-loss regime is what makes scalping so difficult. You really need to know what you're doing, since you aren't using actual stop-loss rules or figures as such. It's in and out...
As for the W/L tab, I would recommend www.futures-trader.net - This is an excellent scalping/trading frontend which plugs into the IB API and is free in sim-mode to learn scalping. It has everything, such as automated tradelogs, win/loss statistics calculations on-the-go - Anything. You name it...
The succesion of T&S's to watch (market by market) is interesting too. So is the contrast between board open hours and the 24/7 stuff around the world.
So well said. In the mentioned futures-trader platform, you automatically have T&S of 3-4 on the screen parallel to each other at all times! This way, you can i.e. see T&S volume and price changes coming in on the ES or NQ, thus anticipate a move on i.e. the YM - You've just gotta know which market is leading at any given time. The "general assumption" that the NQ always leads as the speculative market, the YM always lags as the primary market and the ES are wedged in between, does apply often, but not always. Watch out.
Actually I'm just curious about the scalping issue
being in front of scalping is nifty as hell.
Yeah. And it's a a great way to die for a newbie...
I'm not planning to become one at least for now however I've learned it is a tough business risk exposure calls my attention. How many points you should looking for ( average) per contract??!!
It is a tick thing as you will see soon. Use: TPD and W/L and NPD.
Bubba, you tend to use a lot of abbreviations which may not all be understood by non-informed or newbies such as hawker. Make sure you write out the explanations. This is not an expert forum. Just a suggestion. All the Best...
And how tight the stops should be ??
N/A, see above
