SCALPERS - why aren't you trading e-minis?

I thought that the Naz, S&P and the Dow were mathamatical computations of some sort, of the movement of the stocks involved in each of the indexes?

If this is the case how can they lead the movement of a stock? If this is not the case please correct me.

I do trade the NQ, but I don't really care which way it goes, so a leading indicator is not important to me.

We are talking about the futures, not the cash.

It's important to know the major weightings in the indexes because certain stocks' movements can affect the index, and actually lead the futures, like MSFT & GE.

Exactly, and the funny thing is, if a stock comprises 10% of an index then it seems to lead the corresponding index future 10% of the time and be lead by it 90% of the time.
