Scales in gyms offend students - must be removed

Poor precious easily-offended snowflakes...

"Carleton University's decision to remove scales from gym weighs heavy on student body, although it's unclear if mass protests are coming." :)

Carleton University comes under heavy criticism after gym scale removed
'Those who are offended by the scale can simply choose not to use the scale.'

Carleton University is feeling the burn from students on social media for removing a weight scale from its gym to promote a more holistic approach to a healthy body image.

The recent move isn't sitting well with several students who are accusing the school of kowtowing to a small group of gym users who are easily offended.

"Next it will be the mirrors. #bringbackthescale," wrote one Carleton student on Facebook, while another said online, "Are you for real, Carleton? What a sick joke."

Details of the scale controversy were first reported in the university's student-run newspaper, The Charlatan, on Thursday. In more social media reaction, others wondered if the online article was satire.

The paper quotes one student as saying, "Scales are very triggering" for people with eating disorders.

The problem with this is that they are trying to remove the "trigger points" rather than treating the actual disorders. Its sad to see so many beautiful women not liking the way they look, but this will not fix the problem.

The scary thing about scales is that they do not lie. Your friends can tell you that you look amazing, the shops can put smaller size numbers on the labels so you feel like you are as skinny as your youth, but the scales are an unemotional truth teller. Better to smash all truth tellers and live forever in happy land.

Wow, we've crossed the event horizon!

And here i thought that banning sledding, and hockey (which happened at my school growing up) at recess was excessive, it appears teachers and shitty parents have managed to one up themselves.

California School Bans Tag, Says Game ‘Too Rough’

Gold Ridge Elementary School in Folsom, California has banned the game of tag.

Principle David Frankel sent a note home to parents saying, “Students were instructed that physical contact including tag games, touch football, etc. were not allowed on the yard.”

Why would this time-honored tradition of playground fun get the axe? According to school district spokesman Daniel Thigpen, things had gotten just a bit too physical. Thigpen explained, “In this case, kids were getting too rough…so the school told them to stop playing those games… It’s not uncommon for a school to enact specific recess rules to address specific behavior problems.”

Students will face disciplinary action should they not comply. The punishments will begin with a referral, and then a parent-teacher conference, according to school officials.

According to The Daily Mail, the school has claimed that the note was only sent home to some parents, and there’s some confusion over whether the ban applies to all students.

Fourth-grader Mallory Giddens is not a fan of the new rule. Giddens told KOVR television, “I don’t really like it. I mean I don’t really play tag but I don’t think it’s fair to everyone else that plays tag!”

Giddens continued, “My principal, he doesn’t want us to have tag at school because people, they touch too hard. Sometimes they push people over and my principal doesn’t want anyone getting hurt.”

Well, isn't it the case that some people do not like truth tellers by shooting the messenger ( here the scales)?

These students are not afraid of becoming the laughing stock with storis like that.
