solid advise. i know coupe guys from very poor white trash families, who used similar approach(high tech @ NAVY)-then college,paid off from savings when in service. now working in IT, making 6 figures,while rest of the family keep sitting on welfare..
when you are on welfare u never be bankrupted by medical bills. u can spend more time with your family. nobody will sue you. if u are smart enough u can have an off the books business.
bottom line: these so called white trash families may be better off than you.
