The Rain Man film was based on a real man that could do such things as read a whole book at phenominal speed and then quote it word for word.
Although he had to be helped to do such mundane things as dressing himself, he had this amazing memory.

Counting cards is a very different game than predicting mkts. There are a limited number of cards/decks used whereas there are an unlimited number of variables that can move mkts.

There are recorded cases of people who can predict what the market will do next, but none of them can do that reliably.

1) They look at the world in terms of "black & white". They have a lot of trouble with "shades of gray". That's why Tom Cruise's character scolded "Raymond" for playing the Wheel of Fortune game after making a lot of money from BlackJack in the movie.
2) Bradley Cooper's character in the movie, Limitless, would be a "better" thing to replicate. :eek:

Just to change the topic slightly. Most children are not savants but reasonably normal.
At what age would you let them have some fun on the markets? Is it never too early ? Or is it exposing them to some moral danger ?

Children are arguably better at learning things, especially intuitive things. Did you encourage yours to " play " along with the shoot-em ups ?

The problem with a movie like LIMITLESS is that you have a nongenius writing about what it's like to be a genius. Knowing nothing about trading, the writer had Cooper's character tied to a computer all day instead of writing a program to do super-high-quality automated trading for him. Add to that the stupidity of having Cooper's character not repay his debt to the Russian mobster on time just to create some drama and what could have been a great movie is mediocre at best.

If there are any idiot savants out there successfully specialzing in trading, they're almost certainly not going to have got into it off their own back and whoever their minder is, they're not going to chip in on this thread. But you don't need to be an idiot savant to excel at trading; and why would you want to limit yourself to an abnormal life woth OCD ion one area and nothing anywhere else? Why not be the well rounded person you are who also happens to excel at trading? You don't have to sell your soul to the Devil.

Oh, yeah, and that hellfire Nuclear fire spawn missile would probably be a good way to shoot nukes down, too!

Basically if there were a way to say savants are not just struggling to find themselves but they ask why things are that way then seem coy and shy if you really try to get to know them.

Or they're super pissed off for carrying another company's notes that not only get rejected 8 times before disregarding any attempt to make monthly updates but see themselves as some kind of tuning fork that if everyone just listens to me they would all do well but people go it the hard way not the easy way and for that I regret trying to do the paperwork required when after 10 years all I'm doing in 20 or so columns is punching in two prices with a spreadsheet for sale I won't ever release for any less than $8.5 million then be ridiculed for it with the results I saw nobody had to offer and still don't...

So pity the fool Savant self in me to just say I never wanted Nuclear War, but it would be the only reason to defend the USA in military duty. 3rd Highest NAPT Nuke School after 9/11, and I'm sitting here wondering if my duty would have been worth it compared to where I am now 13 years later and still treated like an adolescent when Warren Buffet didn't move out till he was 42 with $100 million...lol.
