San Juan Mayor Refused to Visit FEMA HQ After Invites – Is Not Participating in FEMA Meetings

Shocker. Another liberal propaganda story discovered to be horseshit.

San Juan Mayor Refused to Visit FEMA HQ After Several Invites – Is Not Participating in ANY FEMA Meetings

September 30, 2017by Jim Hoft79 Comments

The liberal media is pounding President Trump over the suffering in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.

San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz slammed President Trump for ignoring the suffering people of Puerto Rico.

She said this while standing in front of pallets of US aid from the mainland.
Now we know why the people have no aid.
The Teamsters Union driversdid not show upto work.
Only 20% of drivers arrived at the ports to distribute the relief supplies.

The San Juan Mayor has been invited to the FEMA Command Center SEVERAL TIMES — She has refused to show up!

And there’s this…

Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz is not attending local FEMA meetings according to fellow mayors.

TheDaily Callerspoke with Mayor Angel Perez and he described how his experience with government assistance has been different than what Cruz described because he is actually attending FEMA meetings and proactively helping his community:

“My experience is different. I have been participating in different meetings at the headquarters of FEMA and our government and the help is coming in and right now my experience is different from hers. I’m receiving help from the government, we are receiving assistance from FEMA, I got people over here helping us with applications for the people that have damage in their houses. And we have here in Guaynabo, we have thousands of people that lost partially or totally their houses.”

When Perez was asked about the “Genocide” comment Cruz made, the Mayor responded:

“I don’t know why she is saying that. What I can tell you is my experience. She is not participating in any meetings and we had a couple already with the governors and with representation of FEMA and of HUD, of these whole federal agencies that have given us help and she’s not participating in those meetings and some mayors from her political party have been participating, so I don’t know why she is saying that. My experience is very different.”

Mayor Cruz should spend less time trashing the US president on the liberal media and more time helping her people.

Tired and past bedtime here but he said that in an interview with the Daily Caller.

Could be true but I'd like to head the voice recording, is it available?

There is the leftist spin, and then there is reality.
"For those saying Trump / Fed Gov. isn't doing anything for the Puerto Ricans: The airports are filled with AC-130's, gov't planes of troops and aid workers, ospreys, and commercial flights offloading Nat. Guard workers before taking out civilians. All of this with a non-functioning / non-powered airport (no control tower - all operations are being run out of Miami!). You complain there's not enough commercial flights to get people out and you complain there's not enough aid being flown in. There's only 1 runway and it's being run with no power. The island is surrounded with the USCG ships, have rescue helicopters flying overhead all day, army (or reserves) cleaning all the streets to allow gas deliveries, and constant escorts of fuel trucks to gas stations. They paused the Jones Act for a couple days to allow direct fuel and supply deliveries (and are in meetings today about a more long term repeal ). The Fed Gov. committed to pay 100% of all debris removal on the island (and USVI). And just FYI, PR doesn't pay any federal income taxes and never has (you know, the stuff used to pay for these relief efforts).
If you were actually on the island, you would see the amazing working being done by everyone that lives there. I was stunned with how quickly everyone was able to clean up after this disaster. Puerto Ricans aren't incompetent people. There's 3.4 mil people on the island filled with skilled laborers that are kicking ass getting things stabilized.
Yes, Puerto Rico needs help and aid, but if there's one thing I know without a doubt, is that it's citizens know how to handle hurricanes! No single person, or government can fix this level of disaster overnight. It's going to take some time. So be grateful that you're not there and that you have running water and a house to sleep in. Bashing a government for not doing what you think is best when is reality you have no idea what's going on is counterproductive to those that are actually helping. Unless you're in Puerto Rico, you have NO CLUE what it's like and what's happening. Why? Because communication is out around 98% of the island."

What us Puerto Ricans need is the U.S. Armed Forces to come in and distribute the aid. And that they stop the Governor, Rossello, and the Mayor, Yulin, from continuing on doing what they’re doing." Radio interview caller.

So the Governor is "Republican" according to Fox's Geraldo Rivera
and the mayor of the capital, but still one of scores of mayors on PR, is aligned Dem. Of course neither are what he neatly parcels up as partisan Con/Rep mainland adversaries. Giraldo at the start of the linked interview above does say he is surprised at how little aid is available. A mayor can't stop planes coming into the international airport.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Progressive_Party_(Puerto_Rico) (Governor)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popular_Democratic_Party_(Puerto_Rico) (Capital's mayor)

The caller has a good go at Yulin and then returns to singling the governor out.

The woman is calling from Guaynabo, which seems to me to be a suburb of the capital however it has it's own mayor:
Angel Pérez Otero New Progressive Party (PNP) the same as the Governor.

So whatever is going on partisan politically, it will not be clear until some investigation is done.

Bit of a labyrinth at the moment.
