The Latest: Trump dedicates golf trophy to hurricane victims

President Donald Trump says he’s dedicating the Presidents Cup golf trophy to the people of Puerto Rico, Texas and Florida still recovering from recent hurricane devastation.

Trump also says of Puerto Rico: “We have it under really great control.”

Earlier Sunday, Trump dismissed those he calls “politically motivated ingrates” who’ve questioned his administration’s commitment to rebuilding Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.

The president spent much of the weekend at his New Jersey golf club and then attended the international golf competition near New York City.

Trump presented the trophy to Team U.S.A., the first sitting president to present the tournament’s winning team with a trophy.

The president says the players are “a tremendous group of folks” and calls them “great champions.”

He does this stuff because he is on such an incredibly higher level.... its kinda like a double triple quadruple agent working for a spy agency. Brilliant imo. It gives all the lesser IQ's something to get to be confused and fret over.

Yup . . . he's confusing the lesser IQ's all right ,
Secretary of State Tillerson included.

‘Save Your Energy, Rex’: Trump Tweet Undermines Sec. of State Tillerson on North Korea Talks

Just one day after Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said the United States had "lines of communication" to North Korea, President Donald Trump sent out a tweet telling the secretary of state: "Save your energy."

"I told Rex Tillerson, our wonderful Secretary of State, that he is wasting his time trying to negotiate with Little Rocket Man...," Trump said in one tweet, adding in another: "...Save your energy Rex, we'll do what has to be done!"

Hours after the initial tweets, Trump tweeted again, saying that his predecessors had "failed" at solving the North Korea problem and that he would not do the same.

"Being nice to Rocket Man hasn't worked in 25 years, why would it work now? Clinton failed, Bush failed, and Obama failed. I won't fail," Trump wrote.

Possibly the most brilliant strategy of all time..........
You can't see it?
whatever.
I can.
Friggin genius.

Lets see if he can break his own record under Mueller's fire.:).

Trump blasts those who take the Fifth, but he used it 97 times on adultery questions

Pleading the Fifth is a well-known term in the U.S. justice system. The Amendment says American citizens have the right to not incriminate themselves, so those suspected of committing a crime can remain silent rather than deliver testimony.

Thousands of people have invoked that right over the years, from powerful politicians and business leaders to everyday people who refuse to testify when they’re being charged with a crime.

On Wednesday, Donald Trump criticized a particular group of people who invoked that right: former staff members of Hillary Clinton called on to testify about her setting up a private email server.

Having lived two years in Condado and witnessed the politicians there first hand, I often wondered why so much was pissed away on stupid projects rather than upgrading the island's infrastructure. There was a time when the island was supposed to get a storm, and as a precaution they shut down the power grid. The storm passed without hitting the island and they couldn't figure out how to turn the power back on for two weeks.

Rampant corruption, poorly built homes with steel and tin roofing, inconsistent water sources, poor utility structure and a massive, bloated government employment structure crippled the island economy for so long. No care was taken to prep the island for any storm preparation, EVER, despite living in the direct path of hurricanes.

Somehow, now that the island has been crushed by a storm, it is suddenly the United State's fault, Trump's fault and not the fault of the political system locally.

Like all liberals, the mayor is projecting fault so Puerto Rican citizens don't march on her mansion and hang her.

I'm not saying the situation isn't dire - it is. But it is the fault of Puerto Rico, it's citizens and the government they have elected. Trump has nothing to do with it, apart from the narrative folks like Tony Stark/AK Forty Seven are trying to construct in their lame and fruitless attempt to make Puerto Rico Trump's "Katrina".

Trump did such a good job with Harvey and Florida response that they're desperate to get him for PR. But, as usual, only a handful of people actually fall for the bullshit.

Absolutely everything you say about incompetency and corruption in the Puerto Rican Island government is true! In fact from my perspective, you may have somewhat understated the level of incompetence and corruption.

However we are not now talking about Puerto Rico's government, which even were it the most efficient and capable government in the world could not quickly dig out from the current state of ruin on its own. We are now talking about the incompetence of a, lying, corrupt, and insouciant Donald Trump -- "Puerto Rico is an Island surrounded by water". Donald is the administrative head of the United States Federal Government. A head administrator that's giving the appearance of being more concerned about peacefully protesting football players then he is about getting helicopters, road clearing equipment, emergency medical help and water distributed to U.S. citizens in remote locations on the Island of Puerto Rico.* This is a case where appearance is revealing truth.

I did not hear Donald harping on the cost of rescuing either Florida or Texas. Then it seemed understood that cost was not an issue. Contrast that with what you are hearing from Donald now.

There is a silver lining for Democrats in this disaster. Florida will very likely be a blue State after this. While Puerto Rico has no voting members of Congress, Florida does. I imagine the thought of this is like a dagger thrust into "Little Marco's" heart.

*Puerto Ricans are statutory citizens. If Donald thought for a moment he could get the Congress to revoke the statute, he'd no doubt push for that as step one; then as step two, issue an executive order banning travel from Puerto Rico to the U.S.

Holy cow! Fifty plus people have just been mowed down by someone that the Islamic State is declaring as one of their own and you're harping on Donald Trump.

I was at the moment, limiting my comments to something we could, if inclined, do something about, viz., Puerto Rico and Donald.

There is no way one can understate the importance of ridding ourselves and our nation of this jerk. And there is nothing more important that any of us could do for our nation than to work toward that end.

Don't lick your political chops just yet. The republican governor of puerto rico will emerge strong and victorious from this and on the right side of history and the trump administration. Puerto Rico is financially bankrupt and government functioning was a joke before the hurricane. Don't be so sure that the democrats are going to come out looking good when the country is asked to pour billions and billions of good money after bad to fix problems there.
