but your argument in the OP relies on an article that rails against wokeism and Elon's tweets about poor Bob Lee dying at the hands of petty criminals? What else are we to make of it?
Fair enough, and many who have tied Lee's death to vagrants have already come out with mea culpa for making the link. Today's instant news leads to many false assumptions about specific cases, even if reality often fits the narrative.
Let me give you an example... An overwhelming majority of black killings today are committed by blacks. It makes sense, poverty, substance abuse, low education lead to more violence. Yet liberal media (which I support) focuses on white violence against blacks, from the idiotic white Karens making fool of themselves to the more dramatic and shocking police killings that lead to violent protests. While these are all valid points of concern and anger, the fact remains that most black people are killed by black people and no one seems to give 2 shits about that reality. Worse, if conservative media points it out, they're automatically branded racists, and while I don't doubt for a second that some are, the Left is mute about black on black violence, primarily because the packaged message is white violence on blacks and because the Democratic party needs the black vote.
Sometimes I prefer to hear the primitive anger from the idiotic Right, then the hypocrisy of the Left.
Ok, it's a strawman but I'll play this righty favorite talking point. The reason "the left" isn't outraged about criminals amongst the poors (i.e. blacks statistically speaking) victimizing other poors (i.e. blacks statistically speaking) is because the bulk of these crimes are tied to the condition itself (poverty). If a POS is knocking people out and stealing their wallet, or a kid gets shot in the crossfire of a gang turf war, it typically will be over power/money. This is a tale as old as time itself and there's no point talking about it beyond fixing the root cause (poverty).
The above makes sense...survival of the fittest, dog eat dog world, etc... What doesn't make sense, is an "upholder of the law" aka civil servant drawing a salary from us, engaging in criminal activities or behavior, further costing tax payers in settlement money. Unlike the above, he's supposed to be the "opposite of a criminal" lest he be labeled as you call it, a hypocrite. What doesn't make sense is a racist victimizing others over physical characteristics they're born with....or worse yet, a confluence of both (racist cop) victimizing citizens on our dime.
So you see, what you call "hypocrisy of the left" really is "false equivalence of the right", which I'll admit, many are fooled by.
Sorry I will never excuse crime, regardless of its roots. The strong will abuse the weak from the very top all the way down to the weakest. The difference is the impact the powerful have over the greater numbers but no one is excused, including the tough guy beating up on his wife or kid for whatever reason, and I don't care what their skin color is.
And yet, I've seen every excuse for Musk's white collar crime on this board.
