Sam's Day Trading Log (With Charts)

Nice trading today.

I've just started trading breakouts myself. I like how long you hold your positions. You have an interesting approach on adding at higher (or lower) levels as the stock progresses -- I've actually thought about that but I'm not sure I could manage that because sometimes I'm in a lot of positions.

Anyways, keep up the good work.

Very nice Sam ! I like how you're adding to winners too.

Jas in hbca, i saw your post today and the reality is that the tables could very well be turned around. I think today just happened to be on of those days for me. If you see my post from 2 weeks back, you'll see my breakdown moment :( , after which i took some time to make changes.

PM me if you want to discuss further.

I never held positions for that long, but than i started seeing what I was leaving behind and am starting to learn how to be patient. Initially, it was difficult as I just wanted a +, even if it was small and so I'd sell at the first opportunity.

I too was a culprit of not adding positions, but with a little help from friends on the forum, it is slowly starting to become a habit.

Great job Sam. It is good to see you starting to slow down.

One thing you might look at one day is starting use a more quantified measure of position sizing so that you can withstand a little more loose stop without getting hurt thus keeping you in a trade long enough to for it to go your way. Once it goes your way then you can add to your position. It really helps when you are on a bad streak and we all have them.

For now have fun with your success and just keep learning as you go.

Again, great job!

I'm looking into that, but first I have to shake that thing off called GREED!!!. Maybe a bad day or two will correct that :p

Totally agree.

Van Tharp has trading game that you can download and play the first 4 levels for free. The game is all about position sizing and it is a great way to start.

It is hard for people to understand that entries are not the most difficult part of trading. It is managing the trade that is difficult.

4re, thanks for the info. This should bring a little fun into the learning.

In regards to your second statement, I have to put my hands up and say I am a culprit to this. You are very right about managing the trade, as this is where I have given my money back many at times.
