Safe plays for October

I am thinking October will be a turbulent one. Probably as crazy as August. I did not loose any money in August, but it kept me on the sidelines for most of September. Can anyone recommend their thoughts on some safe plays? I was thinking shorting the dollar ETF, and going long on Gold.

Any thoughts?

A little late on the usd and gold play. If you get in now you will be in at the top. Hint for your plays: think about companies that benefit from the weak us dollar.
 
Oh, I've been doing this since the end of August. I just stayed with my positions, didn't exit them. Like GG, I've been in it since 25.00. Was thinking take some off the table, and keep some in play.
