Is the US safer without Saddam? Maybe. Safer directly without his activities. Plenty of nutcases wanting to take his place though. Plus I don't live in NYC, so it don't bother me none.

Quote from ZZZzzzzzzz:

The question was not "Was Saddam a bad man?"

Both of us know the futility in debating the philosophical good vs. evil on a message board. Who are we to judge. None of us are Sunni's ruling a Shia' majority nation.

The question is, are we safer now?

The better question would be, were we ever systematically not safe? Was 9/11 pure black swan? It's Israel who is clearly under the gun. Even though I'm 99% isolationist it's hard to ignore our brotherhood with Israel. And as we all know, it's Israel who this is really all about. With apologies to Roger Water's.....

Are there more trained terrorists now than before Bush's war against Saddam's regime? Is there more or less hatred now toward the USA? Is there better or worse relations with other countries?

The real story is the Sunni world (I think 85% of Islam) being FREAKED out. Sunni's like wael will tell you that the Shia' are more "civilized" (kneejerk judgmental lapse on my part) than the Sunni's. One thing for sure, virtually EVERY act of terror against the West has been the product of Sunni Wahabiist's rather than Shiites. So are we "producing" aspiring jihadists? Perhaps in groves. Is that in itself an indictment of justice? Hardly. I don't think the strain we have internationally is over Iraq per se' anyways. Too few care. Rather Iraq is the crisis de jour. Once again it's all about Israel. When you're fighting on behalf of the most hated kid in school......

Yes, Saddam was a bad man, but from a cost benefit analysis, are we safer now and was it really worth it?

Our whole existence is pleasure preceding sudden death. Safety? That's a concept for atheists to ponder.

People are celebrating the demise and death of Saddam...but at what cost both near term and long term to the USA?

Would the USA be in better shape if the money had been spent internally, not to mention the dead and wounded Americans? [/B]

It's probably too early to still tell but I doubt it was worthwhile. Have we ever fought a war that truly was?

Mucho mucho logical fallacy, red herrings, and dodging the questions in your comments...

Way to many to list, and what good would that do?....Lets just say "par for the Pabst."

Are we safer now?

Bottom line?

Most say no...

Oh, and remember that white dude that was pissed off at America for the gulf war, some dude who blew up Oklahoma City...

And that was by most accounts a "righteous" war...

Think any disaffected Vets might hold a grudge against the government following Bush's Iraq War down the road?

Right...we are safer now...sure thing...

So Jr. got his man, big bad Saddam is dead.

We would be even safer if someone can figure out how to get rid
of that idiot who is now the leader of Iran.

Hope he goes next. We would be even much safer then.

Then the nut in N. Korea.

One at a time...

<i>"Sunni's like wael will tell you that the Shia' are more "civilized" (kneejerk judgmental lapse on my part) than the Sunni's."</i>

Just FYI, Pabst: It's the other way around. Sunnis commonly look down on the Shia as the more barbaric and primitive of the two sects.

The Shia holiday of Ashoura (or 'sado-masochism parade day') adds to this perception.

Were the shoe on the other foot, you'd evade these questions all day long...
But I'll just flat out admit it: Your points above are correct.

republicans lost power in the house an senate.

I guess this one's a bummer...

With the other comments, maybe we should of stayed home and
waited for the next terrorist attack instead of taking it to them.

We all agree that the "terrorists" have all run to Iraq to get in on the
action correct?

Guess where they would be if not in Iraq? They would be here in the US.

Or maybe not. Maybe they would be having a peace march somewhere...

Amazing nothing has happened here in the US since we went to Iraq...

I wonder why? Maybe because the nuts think their jihad is happening in
Iraq!

And it is if we stay there. If we run, we will look like cowards and
they will come after us with a vengeance like you have never seen.

Lets hope the Democrats don't give us that one for a present...:(

What a load of bullshit. But if Rush, et al, says it, it must be true.
