All truth passes through three stages, First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.
With all this evidence, it is clear why Saddam would not cooperate with the UN inspectors for years.
i disagree.... there is no reason to get anything under control. The complications of this "WAR" was brought upon us by poor planning and and one hell of a bad read on the situation in IRAQ. To think that we need to stay there because someone dropped the ball isn't what needs to be done. When your trade goes against you more than what you had in mind you bail on the trade. This is just one big blunder after another why put our soldiers at risk?? did we go in there to stop him from developing the bomb or did we go in there for democracy...c'mon you guys just cant pick and choose the answer when it suits u...if it was to stop him from building the bomb..i think thats a pretty much done deal...so why are we still there?
It would not matter if Dr. Z woke up tomorrow morning with an Iraqi nuke shoved up his a-s. He would simply change his complaint to something else and throw his shallow opinion at us. Why even try to argue with people who view the world with the simplicity of a child.
I'm thinking it would be kinda tough for that to happen since it's been well documented that they abandoned all WMD activity and destoyed the remaining in 1991...just as ordered by the U.N.

A new report released on September 9, 2002 from the International Institute for Strategic Studies - an independent research organization - concludes that Saddam Hussein could build a nuclear bomb within months if he were able to obtain fissile material.
In 2001, an Iraqi defector, Adnan Ihsan Saeed al-Haideri, said he had visited twenty secret facilities for chemical, biological and nuclear weapons. Mr. Saeed, a civil engineer, supported his claims with stacks of Iraqi government contracts, complete with technical specifications. Mr. Saeed said Iraq used companies to purchase equipment with the blessing of the United Nations - and then secretly used the equipment for their weapons programs.
Amnesty International reported that, in October 2000, the Iraqi Government executed dozens of women accused of prostitution.
Iraqi security agents reportedly decapitated numerous women and men in front of their family members. According to Amnesty International, the victims' heads were displayed in front of their homes for several days.
Former UN Human Rights Special Rapporteur Max Van der Stoel's report in April 1998 stated that Iraq had executed at least 1,500 people during the previous year for political reasons.
The UN Commission on Human Rights and the UN General Assembly issued a report that noted "with dismay" the lack of improvement in the situation of human rights in Iraq. The report strongly criticized the "systematic, widespread, and extremely grave violations of human rights" and of international humanitarian law by the Iraqi Government, which it stated resulted in "all-pervasive repression and oppression sustained by broad-based discrimination and widespread terror." The report called on the Iraqi Government to fulfill its obligations under international human rights treaties.
Saddam Hussein has repeatedly refused visits by human rights monitors and the establishment of independent human rights organizations. From 1992 until 2002, Saddam prevented the UN Special Rapporteur from visiting Iraq.

The war is an utter disaster. By this point about as many Iraqi deaths can be attributed to the war as can be to Husseins cruelty. Our ill thought out, illegal, pre-emptive strike has greatly increased the the number of terrorist sympathizers and made the world a much less safe place for Americans. Iraq is in shambles and getting worse by the day. It is rife with corruption with absolutely no hope for an acceptable outcome to the war. We have killed, at this point, nearly 2/3 as many Americans as were killed in the 9/11 attack on the Trade Center. The fault for this disasterous situation lies jointly with the President, the Vice President (who personally interferred with CIA intelligence) and with Congress for abrogating their duty to serve as a check on the Executive Branch. This is by far the worst disaster the Country has faced since the Civil war. It eclipses even Viet Nam in the extent of incompetance exhibited by the Whitehouse, damage to world security, and the disasterous fallout that is resulting and will result from this greatest of all foreign policy goofs. What a disaster!

Most everyone thought it was such a great idea. Now the "war" is not working out so well, what with the lunatics killing each other, so let's bail out and see what other lunatics take over the government of Iraq only to be dealt with in the future.

Bloodshed is already high, with police finding the bodies of 87 torture victims throughout the capital between 6 a.m. Thursday and 6 p.m. Friday.
All 87 bodies recovered in Baghdad were dressed in civilian clothes and had been bound at the wrists and ankles, police Lt. Mohammed Khayon said. They showed signs of torture, a common practice among religious extremists who seize victims from private homes or from cars and buses traveling the capital's dangerous streets.
Shiite militiamen and death squads have been blamed for many of Baghdad's sectarian killings, which skyrocketed after the February al-Qaida bombing of a Shiite shrine.
