Oh man, sorry about your losses today. What happened?

don't be, it didn't spiral out of control, but 2.64% down on TC nevertheless. Lack of range has totally screwed any chance of a breakout, you saw the chart? 5 points low to high, what a f...ing joke, but s... happens.

I was expecting a week like this early on but since we had pretty good trading Monday and Tuesday I expected the same today. Lets be very cautious tomorrow so we don't get chopped up because it could be like this the rest of the week.

BBs are well tight, aren't they?

Oh yeah. It is just a matter of when this market is going to do its thang. I can actually see it going up to about 1340 and retest the high of year this next month. (Still staying market neutral though).

hi, since no one has answered my original question, i'll ask again.

4re, i remember you saying you are trading through esignal but getting your charts from optionsxpress. do you need to have an account with them to get charts?

i am (obviously) new to futures and i want to do virtual trading before i risk my own capital. i'm dabbling in shorting etf's when i think the market is going down, but it would be more efficient to do this with futures instead. i would like to try your method and one from a course i took to see which works better for me.

please help! i'm looking for a site with free real time charts and/or virtual trading (free) without having to fund an account.

thanks, guys....

Princessa,
Sorry your question got missed. I don't think you will be able to find any realtime data provider for free. My prophet charts through optionsxpress are not realtime and that is why I don't trade with them. During the day they are 15 minutes behind. And they are not 24 hr data. I like to use them for charting only but you do have to have an account with optionsxpress to get them. I believe you can sign up without funding an account though. Hope this helps you eventhough I know it isn't what you wanted to hear.

Gary

Hi,

I don't trade futures but may be able to help a bit.
You can try esignal free for 1 month real time (just pay a small amount for exchange fees etc). Most other data providers will also give you a trial period (eg: 7 days) for real time data if you pay the exchange fees. Some data providers are like DTNIQ, CQG, QCHARTS, Prophetnet

Alternatively, you can try searching for a poster jmowery1987 posts where he list some brokers etc that will let you try out free for a period of time

Alternatively, some brokers offer free demo (1 day delay). Example Rushtrade and Cybertrader without having to open the account

HTH

thanks gary and bill!

yeah, another poster replied and said basically the same thing. i decided to pay for it and get info via interactive brokers. their charts aren't great, but i already had an account with them, so it was very simple to set up info with real time charts (for a fee, of course). i am also setting up paper trading account with them. it seems that futures work basically the same as what i do now (predicting market direction), only with greater leverage.

thanks guys! i'll be watching your progress....

If you don't mind me asking. How much does IB charge for their chart service. I am tired of paying 139.00 for e-signal

Gary or Romik, I know it was a tough day, but if you have some free time today or tomorrow can you please tell me what you think of the chart.
I had a pennant at the beginning and what I would call two channels. In all three cases the breaking of the line would have been a profitable trade for me. Of course, I dont trade with real money yet, but what do you think.:)
