i find m written record keeps it less biased. I review my statements but can't remember what I used or the condition of the trades.

I look over the write ups on the losses and it really stands out that I made a bad trade (loss) it also shows me when I made a bad trade and was lucky.

the key is I get an accurate reflection that I won't adjust for today's mood.

When I skip writing it up, I see my trading get a little sloppy.

Looks like a burger night tonight as we rest again on the 1300

You are exactly right and I agree that this needs to be done. I just know that I don't do it. And I don't want to lie and sound like I am doing this. People that frequent this journal already know that I have my faults and I am ok with them so it is hard for me to change some things. Now when it comes to actually trading you gotta believe me when I say that I do my homework and usually have my head in the game. But if admin is my biggest fault I'll take that.

This is where my discipline breaks down. I look at my monthly statement just so I can know when to compound my contracts and that is about all. I do too much admin with my company and just get lazy about it with trading. I used to keep a journal and all that but I quit doing it a while ago. I have always been good with numbers so I usually keep count of things in my head. At least close enough for me. The only reason I was able to detail my option trades for Romik was that options xpress just makes it very easy to do.

I go to NT's performance tab and use the trades tab to create a report. Simply export it to excel and I now have all my trades for the day, week, or whatever time frame I choose. Takes about 30 seconds. On the weekends, I rehash my trades to see how ignorantly or smartly I traded.

so this is my first day watching the ES ive always been more of a dow guy and would like to learn the ES. How would evaluate today as a whole so far? This morning I was able to get a couple 3 tick scrapes but i was aiming for 5, this afternoon ide take 1 tick!

Oops, this is something else I don't do either. I do go back and look at trades that stick out in my mind. If I did something very good or bad to see exactly what happened. But if it was routine trading during the week then I don't go back and look at each trade.

But I do know the important things about my trading. I know tha tsince I started this journal I have had 3 days where I had 2 losing trades and had to stop trading for the day.

I know that my last losing week was the 27th - 31st of March. I know these things because I punish myself when they happen. That way I don't let it happen again. By my rules a losing week earns me a week in simulation mode. and the week I spent in sim was painful. I could do no wrong that week and kept wanting to go back at it. But I stayed in sim the whole week.

Today has been horrible. Try the ES again because these days don't happen often. And if they continue I'll find something else to trade.
