I've got a YM long trade with a tight leash ...

Would you mind posting charts with your trades?

Using the basic concept of a 5 minute chart with a SMA 40:

a) even if there was a Long trade at the Open (or slightly after it opened),

b) there was a Short trade when the market turnd around and dropped, and

c) Support has been broken and there will most likely be another 2 pt opportunity there.

I had been in the Precious Gemstone business most of my life. Importing and selling to the jewelry industry. Kept me traveling alot. After years of living in airports and hotels, you get burned out. Although business was good, it was time to call it quits.

As far as trading. I use 3 indicators for confirmations. Stochs, MACD, & CCI and I use Moving Averages for S/R. Most of the time I use the 5min. TF for trading and keep an eye on the longer TF's for longer trends. With all of that said, chart formations (Candlestick charts) are my primary trading tools. I like trading flags & pennants as well as doji's for reversals.

Hey Alex,

I know exactly what you mean about "Airport and Hotel time", as I used to tour with a classical ballet company when I was younger. It's a very tough lifestyle, and while it might seem to be glamarous, theres a lotta lonely days and lonely nights living that nomadic lifestyle.

I really like that CCI Histogram myself. It gives very clear, basic signals, is definitely not new, if used with a basic Simple Moving Average 40, or a few others, is a very basic setup and can help keep a trader on the correct side of a trend.

Best,

James

Well, there was only 1pt (if that) in the breakdown of support (no big surprise there).

But I haven't entered any trades today.

Why?

Becuase of this little gem right here.

edit: also running a regular business for quite a few years has helped me understand that SUPPLY & DEMAND are 2 most important factors that drive any market, if there is a balance between the two - I do not trade (intraday).

Hi James

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I usually run out between 11:30 & 2:00.

You're right about people thinking it's glamourous. But, if you've seen one hotel room you've seen them all. Doesn't matter whether it's in Little Rock or Hong Kong.

I also like the CCI. I've found myself using it more & more. I use the 20 & 40 period. I do find that it gives a slightly premature signal, which is fine with me, since it makes me keep an eye open for a reversal. Among other indications, I found that any reading more than a +/- 300 - 400 is virtually a guaranteed reversal.

What?! And give away my 15m ORB super-secret strategy? Okay. But I warn you...be prepared to be under-whelmed. :D :D :D

Well, I sure did get a lot of chores and business done today.

Remember when we used to try to trade days like this?

I do.

There's a 50% chance that the market will drop and then reverse later on in tomorrow's session. :p :D

Just funn'in witcha.

Hey Guys,
I been out almost all day, earning my right to be right here in front of my monitor all day tomorrow. I will probably go out for a little in the morning also but I am going to be pumped in the afternoon. I don't care which way it moves just move BIG.

It looks like I missed a lot today...LOL...I think it is more exciting watching cars rust than being here watching this today. Of course I am just joking if you were one of the 2 or 3 that did watch it all day...LOL

If you pick your spots and go with high probability trades, even days like today can be profitable.

Yes there was...but I would rather wait for tomorrow instead of sitting around watching this type of day
