edit: also running a regular business for quite a few years has helped me understand that SUPPLY & DEMAND are 2 most important factors that drive any market, if there is a balance between the two - I do not trade (intraday).

:)

is that what you would like to get involved in?

I probably wouldn't turn it down but I saw this morning that there are over 8000 hedge funds out there. I think the market is getting saturated with them. I think you need somewhere around 20 mil just to get decent representation so I doubt that I'll ever do it.

Well, I'm not sure how this season is gonna turn out but I know one thing....it's gonna be interesting! I've been threatening the Eagles fans that I'm going to wear a T.O. jersey for the whole season...and I mean the WHOLE season day-in and day-out! :D

Might want to wear a helmet as well. You know them Philly fans...

Wow. I had boro at 55. :D

Haha. That doesn't really surprise me. Although difficult to gauge someone's age from a few lines of text here and there, I've been pretty mature for my age since my late teens. You know, way back when. :)

As far as the years between graduation and now, I was a financial advisor for AmEx (now Ameriprise) for a year (don't get me started on those guys) and for some reason stayed in that capacity, worked with two other guys with our own DBA under the umbrella of an insurance company for two years after that.

I had a big problem with having to recommend stuff that I didn't believe in or buy myself and still don't know why I stayed with it so long. Pride, stubbornness, naivete, a combination of the three.

And perhaps worse than a blowup trade, I had a couple very good sized commissions killed by some bungling from a partner and was cheated out of another even bigger one at the end of my endeavour by my final partner.

Trying not to be bitter but it ain't easy.

Anyhow, spent some time looking around after that. All I wanted to do was trade or work for some big Wall Street firm where 7 and 8 figure bonuses grow on trees.

Turns out that's a competitive racket. :p

So I combined my love of trading with my fiercely independent nature and ventured out on my own.

And here I am.

The thing is those same guys you would be competing against are the same ones your are trying to get money from in the markets. Never shy from competition.

Good stuff boro!

I find myself daydreaming of fulltime trading on those occassional days when in a couple hours I FAR exceed my 10-hour salary.

Maybe someday...

Also fell asleep at the desk once while in a trade

I've actually done that several times (the night job and all), seeing as how there was a protective stop in place, I wasn't too concerned about it (but I did keep oen eye open) ... they turned out to be some of the best trades I ever made!

had to make myself stop by walking away, having a cigarette on the balcony has helped clear the mind.

Yeah, I remember those days too! Seems like oh, only a couple of years ago. :p

Later,

JJ

Good morning to you Porgie. All has been going very well in the S/R journal. Trading has gone well lately and I am pleased to say I haven't made any changes to my method in months. Just letting the rule of probabilities run its course. That was one of my main objectives in starting this journal in the beginning.

Good Evening Everybody,

Since I don't really expect tomorrow to provide much excitement and I have a lot of work to do I have decided not to do any trading tomorrow. This will allow me to focus and get ready for the afternoon of the Fed meeting on Tuesday. I really would not expect that any significant S/R levels to be broken anyway. I will check in from time to time. If you do trade, have a good day.

Gary
