hey jj evans, the only reason I did 1224 was that was the price when i started this thread.

What is the S&P figure of the 200 day moving average? You are probably right that is more important. thanks for posting here and for your answer (I do not follow moving averages closely).
 
SPX 200MA is at about 1259. Significantly, it is below the current price. It therefore looks pretty certain that the year will close with the SPX above its 200MA.

Also transports probing that triple top failure as I type. Currently I think 5046.
