Russian Nuclear Sub Patrols In Gulf of Mexico Undetected

The Russians are particularly good at designing and building efficient and quiet pumps. The DoD seemed impressed with Russian pump technology when I ran communications for Sea Launch which employed Zenit 1st and 2cnd stage rockets (Yuzhnoye) and a Block-DM upper stage (RSC Energia) and had some advanced fuel pumps used to rapidly fuel the vehicle with chilled oxygenated kerosene. I was told that we didn't have any US pumps that could perform the task. The Akula class subs are very quiet due to the pump technology and not just the anti-cavitation propeller and drive. The Chinese don't have anything so quiet.

I'm not familiar with the names you mention but I'm surprised that Russian pump technology would appear to be more advanced than anything the U.S. would have available in a marine military application.
