No Game Changer for Ukraine: Patriot Systems Fail Against Russian Ballistic Missiles

Western models of the Patriot air defense missile system cannot counter Russia's Zircon and Iskander-M. ballistic missiles, British expert Alexander Mercouris said on his YouTube channel.

"It's clear that the Patriot missile system cannot defend against Iskander-M ballistic missiles and it cannot defend against Zircon hypersonic missiles which the Russians have now demonstrated in battle, and it's probably vulnerable to other Russian missiles like the Kinzhal as well. So, it's not going to change the situation in the skies over Ukraine," the expert emphasized.

I remember back when Pregozhin was killed, some pundits were saying that Putin had come to believe that everything Prego said about Shoigu but could not let Prego dictate what was to happen so he would eventually knock off Prego and then down the road move Shoigu out.

And that is pretty much what has happened.

The article and sources say Shoigu is being replaced by a civilian. The irony is that the complaints against Shoigu were always that he was essentially a civilian and did not come from a military background. His background would be more akin to like FEMA or Homeland Security Director. It had been civilian but because Shoigu is Putin's buddy they elevated it to a military high command type of position. A lot of people hate him for sending so many men to the front, yet he has never been real military himself. Plus he is not ethnic Russian which means a lot to the Kremlin insiders. He is Tuvan.

Shoigu is a dipshit. One of the original architects of the 3-day war which is now 815 days give or take. The real story is that Putin is turning the entire Russian economy into a war economy. So he is bringing an economist over to head up the military and sending the head of the military over to head up the wartime military and industrial supply chain.

Russian forces have, in recent days, made small but significant gains right along the border in the Kharkiv region.

Their advances are only a few miles deep but have swallowed up around 100km (62 miles) of Ukrainian territory. In the more heavily defended east of Ukraine, it’s taken Russia months to achieve the same.

Denys Yaroslavskyi is angry.

“There was no first line of defence. We saw it. The Russians just walked in. They just walked in, without any mined fields” he says.

He says officials had claimed that defences were being built at huge cost, but in his view, those defences simply weren’t there. “Either it was an act of negligence, or corruption. It wasn’t a failure. It was a betrayal”.

“Of course I’m angry,” Denys says. “When we were fighting back for this territory in 2022, we lost thousands of people. We risked our lives.

"And now because someone didn’t build fortifications, we’re losing people again.”
