Russia & Ukraine

imagine quality of the Ukrainian army if Russian conscripts with shovels and zero motivation totally destroy Ukrainian army armed to the teeth with super duper NATO weapons and with thousands western instructors on the ground.

So where is Russia going to get tanks from to violently oppress and conquer Ukraine? Are they going to drag T-34s out of scrap heaps?

Russia has lost up to half its tank fleet in war with Ukraine

Reports suggest that Russia has lost up to a half its tank fleet since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in Ukraine.

Source: CNN, with reference to data provided by Oryx monitoring group and its analyst Jakub Janovsky.

Quote from CNN: "The group said this week it has verified 1,000 distinct Russian tank losses in the war. It said a further 544 Russian tanks had been captured by Ukrainian forces, 79 damaged and 65 abandoned."

Details: According to Oryx military analyst Jakub Janovsky, these statistics only include losses that the monitoring team was able to confirm. He estimates that the real number may be about 2,000 tanks.

"Russia started the war [full-scale invasion - ed.] with around 3,000 operational tanks … so there is a good chance that Russia has lost one half of (its) usable tanks," Janovsky added.

He said that before the start of the war, the Russian Federation had about 4,000 tanks in reserve. However, many of them have only survived "on paper". Thus, even if we assume that all of them can be repaired, the Russian Federation still lost about 30% of its pre-war tank fleet, according to Janovsky.

Oryx reports that the total number of losses of Russian equipment is almost 9,100 units. The total losses of Ukraine amount to 2,934 units of equipment.

At the same time, Ukraine has lost 459 tanks, and captured more than 500 Russian ones.

Even if the numbers are or are not overstated, even a quarter of that number would be a lot

I don't know what the real story is. I read one Ukrainian soldier account that said that in some instances the Russians were sending such thick masses of zombies out on attack that it would be impossible to fire your rifle in that direction and not hit one.

The bigger picture is that the Russians are beginning a massive offensive. What matters is that that offensive be stopped. If that means large numbers or smaller numbers, is not the point. The point is that it must be stopped and that is the measure. It is not clear yet that the Ukrainians can stop them. Very dangerous moment in the war.

One Ukrainian soldier in one interview ~ :
,,They send 30-50 of them where's only 5 or 6 of us. They run screaming without fear. While we take out the mojority, still, few makes through and we have to retreat. We're simply tired of shooting them"

Let's predict upcoming news... Ukraine acquires 900 additional Russian tanks and destroys 900 tanks. Wonders what the heck to do with the T-34s.

As a reminder -- Russia has lost up to half its tank fleet in war with Ukraine -- now they can lose the other half.

Lost half without Western help.

The odds for orcs looks ,,great", given that the first half probably were the tip of the spear.

Vlas is trying to move ahead of the arrival of more equipment from the West. Originally he planned to launch his offensive in late spring.

Now, he is moving right into the beginning of mud season. Mud season is beginning a little already due to the warm weather but it is probably two or three weeks away. Going to be a mess. Probably the timing was decided by Gerasimov. The same guy who apparently had never heard of mud season before advising Putin to move on Kiev last year only to watch all the trucks stuck there.

Yep... Russian is going to need more mobile crematoriums. Sadly on the primary reason for burning the bodies is so the soldiers can be declared as missing and the Russians won't have to pay the families.

who could've seen this..

Russia using mobile crematoriums to hide embarrassing and shameful war crimes in turn being used to hide the embarrassment of losses from their own people would be a sweet irony honestly.
