In war it is question to kill the opponent before you get killed. There are no other options.
The only option the untrained Russians have is to surrender.

The problem with the "untrained combatants unfair" argument is that you have untrained combatants show up in a village one day and by the next they have killed many civilians.
If they want to surrender, then they should do that. Otherwise, it is just a sad fact of war that many of these "innocent" untrained soldiers will be hardened war criminals within days. They need to be "removed." Grannie's life is as or more valuable than theirs, and the same for the grandchildren who will sent off to camps in Russia.
