Kind of a mixed bag there in the south of Ukraine. The bad news for the Ukrainians is that the Russians have doubled the number of troops in the Kherson area and apparently now have about 20,000. Yowzer. Not an opportune time to go too far on the offensive.
But the bad news for the Russians is that that is a LOT of troops concentrated in one area and they have needs at a time when Ukraine is increasingly taking out supply lines and ammo depots. Most of those troops are currently hungry and ragged, and that big batch of new arrivals will be hungry and depleted soon.
The Ukrainians are probably doing the smart thing by letting up on the offense, just holding ground and continuing to cut off their supply lines and blowing up ammo. That's probably why they are menacing Crimea too. It allows them to advance there via missiles but without any ground troops. Let those Ruskies in Kherson deteriorate some more before going on offense- with troops anyway.
