A new problem for Putin?

A serviceman of the Azerbaijani army was killed in an Armenian shelling, Azernews reports, citing Azerbaijani Defense Ministry.

On the morning of August 3, members of the illegal Armenian armed formations on the territory of Azerbaijan, where the Russian peacekeeping contingent is temporarily deployed, were intensively shelling the positions of the Azerbaijani army units stationed in the direction of Lacin District.

As a result of the shelling, an active military serviceman, Anar Kazimov, received a deadly bullet wound, thus becoming a martyr.

The leadership of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan expresses deep condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased serviceman.

The units of the Azerbaijani army took adequate response measures, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

Armenians' consistent licking of Russians' boots has not gotten them much so far.

Azerbaijan is in a better place these days.

Russia is not in a position to prop up or take sides with Armenia in its conflict with Azer and the Azerbaijaini's know it. Russia just does not have the troops. It would like to have troops from both Armenia and Azerbaijan in Ukraine - not using Russian troops to manage or promote their conflict.

Meanwhile the EU suddenly discovered how important its current gas supply from Abzer is and thinks more would be great for obvious reasons.

And now, Azer is not only not sending troops to Ukraine, it is sending humanitarian supplies to Ukraine. EU membership coming right up (easy Vlad, just kidding- or not).

Seriously though. A lot of moving parts in that scenario. Due to the Ukraine War, the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and EU energy needs.

If Vlad had the troops he would just take care of bidness. But he does not.

Some follow-up on the bridges in Kherson. As I mentioned earlier it is difficult to structurally damage a well-built steel bridge with missiles or artillery. The reality is that Ukraine may not want to permanently damage these bridges since they want to use them later. The bridges were effectively cratered to make the surfaces temporarily unusable. Similar to what a opposing military would do to make a airport runway unusable (which can be repaired easily for a runway by simply filling in the holes with blacktop road equipment within a day or so). Similarly a cratered surface of a bridge can normally be made usable by placing a steel roadway surface on top of the bridge -- assuming the bridge is structural sound & can carry the weight and the bridging surface is available for placement.

At this point it appears the bridges in Kherson have been targeted multiple times. Each time they get repaired they get hit again. The Russian have put up large radar reflectors alongside the bridge in an attempt to deflect future missile attacks (which may not be effective). They have also implemented a ferry below the bridge to move supplies across. This article provides some more details.

Russia Is Building ‘Ghost Bridges’ With Radar Reflectors In Ukraine
After two strategic bridges in occupied Kherson were crated by Ukraine, Russia deployed radar reflectors as a crude and puzzling countermeasure.
https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/russia-building-ghost-bridges-with-radar-reflectors-in-ukraine

Russians patched the bridge surface. Time to send some more missiles to crater it. This cycle repeats every few days in Kherson recently.

Let's calculate a bit for a change. How many missiles were sent to destroy the bridge? I think something like 50. The cost per missile is $150,000 (easily found on the Internet). It took a week to restore it with a couple of tons of concrete and metal. That should be well below the cost of one missile. Now, we need more missiles. These missiles will work next time! It is a brilliant tactic! Jesus! Idiots are everywhere.

Some may recall that over the weekend I said that this current week you might very well see a general or two killed, because the top clowns are at risk when Putin pushes them as hard as he is in this current offense that is being repelled. The Wagnerfuck is an example of such, although he is not a general- so no prize for me. Then again, the week is not over. These generals on the front know that if they go back to Moscow in defeat they will shortly cease to exist or Putin will publicly humiliate them as he has done to the others. It makes them take a lot of risk. Plus a lot of the other officers have been killed so the generals are further out on the front line than usual.

Here is my man right here, right on schedule. Reported killed anyway. Not much info in the article. not even a first name.

See quote above.

ANOTHER Putin general killed in Ukraine: High-ranking Russian wiped out in fighting

00:00, Thu, Aug 4, 2022 | UPDATED: 00:04, Thu, Aug 4, 2022

VLADIMIR PUTIN has lost another senior army official in its war in Ukraine, with social media reports speaking of the death of Russian Major General Fedorenko.

The death of Major Fedorenko echoes Moscow's loss of Major General Artem Nasbulin, who was reportedly killed in an artillery strike near Kherson in southern Ukraine last month.
