Basically:

1. From 3 tanks sent from Russia to Ukraine maybe 1 can be cobbled together.

2. No tank repairs are being done. Because the army has no pros that can do it and the civilian pros refuse to work with them because they are not ready to be on funeral detail (cleaning out the body parts) on the tanks that return from the front.

3. Equipment losses are enormous. The "new" equipment being supplied is all from 1970s because newer tanks are all gone.

4. Russian tank factories cannot produce new equipment nearly fast enough. The main tank factory's conveyor was sold to India a while ago. There is a new order for 400 tanks, they think they *may* fill it by 2024.

5. Armata (the new "wonder" tank that Russians crowed about) - there is no chance of producing those anymore.

6. Tank engines - they used to use the same engines in other industries. Not anymore, they are basically obsolete and cannot be used. So they are produced, today, basically by hand, in quantities of tens a year.

7. Cannot produce new artillery barrels - the equipment to manufacture them is gone and the kind of steel that is needed for them is not made by anyone. Again, can maybe produce 10s a year.

Kinda pathetic.

To be fair to us Americans, we have no idea where any of the weapons are in our own country. This is just sort of how we do things.

Are you talking about military weapons?

If so we know where most of our military weapons are. The Taliban has them.

Sucks to be a Russian general sometimes- if not often. Newsweek says he is the nineth general to be killed but I know those counts vary a bit. Terr is probably the go-to man for the right answer.

Putin will lose more and more support in Russia. He creates his own defeat. It is just a matter of time before the bomb inside Russia will explode and there is no way back anymore. The Ukrainian war will change the entire world, so also Russia.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine caused untold suffering, not only on the battlefield, but also among Russian families whose sons were sent to the front. According to Valya, more and more Russian mothers are resisting the 'special military operation'. "They hate Putin. They all want this war to stop."

Valya is not her real name. Fearing reprisals, the mother has asked the 'BBC' to keep her identity a secret. But she wants to share her story because it simply needs to be told.

On February 20, Valya received a call from her son in the Russian army. His unit was "on a training mission" near the Ukrainian border. "He said they did shooting drills and slept in tents," Valya said. "That was the last time I spoke to him."Four days later, Russian troops invaded Ukraine.

"In early March, a sergeant called me from the base where my son was stationed," she says. "He told me that the boys were doing well, that they are in contact with them every day. We kept in touch all month and he kept saying that everything was fine with them." Valya suspects that he probably called all the parents of the regiment.

"Then a man - who claimed to be a friend of my son - sent me a message. I didn't know him. He found me through social media. He told me that my son's leg had been torn off and that he was dead."

The mother then tried to get in touch with official authorities, but no one could or would give more information.

"In the end, the sergeant with whom I had spoken before said, 'We last had contact with your son on February 23.'" "But why did you call to say that everything was fine? Just to calm us down?" asked Valya. "Sorry, I'm just a sergeant," he replied.

The woman then sent several letters, including to the Russian Ministry of Defense. "Again, no one could give me more information. All I've been told is that he took part in the 'special military operation' and that he is missing."

Enemy
According to Russian propaganda, Ukrainian soldiers are Nazis. It is claimed that Ukraine is the aggressor and Russia the liberator. But Valya does not see Ukraine as the enemy. "If our country had been attacked in this way, we would also defend ourselves, just like them. We would defend ourselves and we would also be angry," she says. Many Russians believe the official coverage and support the "special military operation," as presented on state television. But not all of them. Valya is in contact with mothers of soldiers from all over Russia. She claims that resentment among mothers is growing, for example about the way the authorities select young men to fight in Ukraine.

"Lowest class"

"We are the lowest class. We are simple country people. All the boys who fight come from remote areas. They are not Muscovites. There are no sons of government officials."

According to Valya, the mothers' nerves are jumping and they will rebel. "They hate the government. They hate Putin," the woman said. "They all want this war to stop. All mothers want that. Stop all this. Stop it and protect our children."

Meanwhile, Valya has received official news that her son has died in Ukraine. Another soldier who will not return home.
