What I used to do the odd time was put them up on the roof for a few hours tied to a steel chair in the sun. Around 1pm I'd bring up a fire extinguisher and a petrol can. You would be amazed how much frying in the sun makes a man think hard about the fire extinguisher and the petrol can.

Neil, you might want to check the relative size of the Russian economy. With nobody else to go to, China will milk them for resources a long time. China is no strategic interest in Russia winning.
