I see a hefty number of Putin health rumor articles making the rounds again in the last couple days. Some new videos showing him shaking and looking like crap. I read them, but they are persuasive to me because he is under so much pressure that he can easily look like he is beat up just from that. He created some of this rumor mill himself by promoting- over the years- all these videos showing him as allegedly being super strong and healthy. He looks too crappy now to pull off that scam anymore but that does not make him terminally ill. Probably just aging and trying to deal with this Ukraine fuck-up. Plus people reading those articles- myself included- want him to be dead so that does bias your thinking a bit, eh. He could very well be ill. I am just saying that a case for that has not been made.
Having said that, there are little things that get my attention. One is his canceling his annual Q&A session with the public, one of his favorite little circus routines. You could argue that he just does not want to walk into some tough questions about Ukraine but all those questions are rigged and where they are not he has a pre-packaged propaganda answer and nobody dares to mess with him, so I don't buy that.
Another thing I see being reported by several media is that he has developed a sudden need to bring in his birdbrain daughter, the kabuki dancer or whatever it is, and position her as leader of one of the russian parties and run her for parliament. Or should I say "install" her. With some sources speculating that he wants to prop her role up so that if he is sick or diminished in some way that he will lean on her and work through her more, especially as he gets too paranoid to trust anyone else. Don't know.
Bottom line is that I am somewhat of a moderate on this Putin health thing. I don't have any reason yet to believe that he has a serious illness. On the other hand, if you checked his dipstick you would probably find that he is down a couple quarts compared to the previous vlad for whatever reasons. Something is not right with him.
Things were easier with Boris Yeltzin. If you just assumed that he was drunk or severely, severely hung over and that alcoholism was killing him, you pretty much had it right.
