Russia is striking one billion checks every day for that same war. They also spent no money on housing, pension, and all the rest.
All money goes to a select group around Putin, or for war.
Your pro Russian opinion seems to block selectively parts of your brain.
Again, Russia striking "one billion checks" every day has nothing to do with the United States sending $40 Billion to the Ukraine while many problems exist at home for that money.

Nevertheless, Ukraine has a deep history of being corrupt and unstable and not being able to figure out whether it is pro-Russian or pro-West- making it a poor, very poor candidate for Nato membership. Along with the fact that Nato has always- to the extent possible- had a rule against providing membership to countries that were already at war at the time of proposed membership.
Some of these things are being sorted out the hard way and that has its upside for future reviews. But there is a sense from Zelensky that Nato was somehow remiss in not letting them in earlier. Nope. Not at all.
Views will vary on this and that is fine. But we have an obligation to be extremely careful about committing our soldiers from Van Buren, Maine or Post Falls, Idaho to protect some country that has just a very short, mixed, and unstable period of knowing which end is up. Nato protects against military assaults. It does not protect against pro-russian governments being installed afterwards so there needs to be some hard demonstration by the country that they are not pro-soviet or part of some Russian World bullshit or just had a Putin installed president not so long ago. It can be argued that Ukraine is passing that test now the hard way and I have no quarrel with that. But earlier membership for Ukraine. Nope.
Finland and Sweden have already established themselves as worthy.

You say in fact: US should stop helping Ukraine, so that the Russians have an easy win. That is pro Russia.
The US situation you described about the poor areas, exists already many years/decades. So long before Russia invaded Ukraine. But you never spoke about it. Now you do as it is very convenient for you that you can use the "poor areas" argument.
You are faking that you are concerned about the US, but in reality you are pro Russia and consequently married a Russian wife.

What I say is that the US should be hesitant to involve itself in any war. Anywhere it does not directly affect the US. What I say is that before spending $40 Billion on the Ukraine, the US should consider what opportunities it has to spend on its own people - the people that paid those taxes in the first place.
And my wife was born - and lived - in the Ukraine until she was 12 or so...maybe 10, I cannot remember. Before moving to Moscow. Back then, all were Russian.
What about you? Lets talk about where your personal interests are, and heritage (and your wife). So we can see if you are impartial or biased. Are you even a US citizen? Didn't you say your wife was Ukrainian?
