All of those tank units couldn’t be more happy to be leaving and not be burnt alive in a fiery hellscape brought to them by Ukrainian soldiers with western weapons.

We have put a lot of work into him.

Sort of a group project.

He still tries to earn his monthly potato though and has relapses. With this month ending soon, he will try to get an extra one by saying something riculously good about Biden or the like. But we see the cycle and are going to let him have his fun because he has shown some improvement during this Ukraine thing.

He should be pointing out soon that Ukraine is a perfect example of why everyone should own a gun and be trained but that might be expecting a bit too much to have him acknowledge the obvious like that. I don't like to see a lefty have kool-aid withdrawal. Oh, it can be a terrible thing to see- although to be commended.

I read an interview with a marine AFG vet in The Atlantic, and he said that in afg he was always envious of the guys in the tanks because they were protected from all the small arms fire and snipers etc. But he is volunteer fighting in the Ukraine now and says that the opposite is the case there, that with the javelins, no way he would want to be sitting in a Russian tank there.

The other informative thing he said is -that although the Ukrainians notoriously lack night vision in adequate amounts anyway- that the javelin firing/launching set-up has best in the world night vision built into its sighting system- such that the soldiers are able to decouple that and use just the night vision piece for other operations. It's a beautiful thing, although the Russians may not agree.

Indeed. I read about how the US has focused on optics amd drones since about 2014 and it has made the smaller units much more lethal and mobile. I guess we are seeing a glimpse of what that looks like in Ukraine as we have been training them for quite some time now. I agree, the Russians are not too happy to be catching so many losses to basically handheld defensive weapons and drones.

But I’m not just “pro-west” I’m like really Pro-west. Like not fucking around and been trying to tell you idiots Putin is not “strong” or a “genius”, he’s a butcher and wants to take down the free world.

I guess we are seeing a glimpse of what that looks like in Ukraine as we have been training them for quite some time now. It is a highly competitive game. The drone thing is a mixed bag. Right now the drone capability clearly outweighs some negatives but that could change. It is- to say the least- extremely disturbing to hear the reports that many of drones are chinese made- most are in the world- and that the Chinese are able to access them and their geo-location info and pass that along to the Russians. I don't make the news, just report it. But if there is any truth to that at all, then there would be an action item right there to fix that ASAP. The plusses might outweigh the negatives with some of the drones right now, but the next conflict, it might be the other way round.
