Whatever happened to "speak softly and carry a big stick"?
I hope Biden isn't screwing up by talking tough. Is he saying that for the West to hear, or for Putin to hear? Why chide Putin in public, there's nothing to gain. He already knows we'll respond, and even if he didn't there's certainly diplomatic lines of communication that can be used to make NATO's stance perfectly clear. Blabbing in public is never a good idea against a tyrant, unless the tyrant (bully) know's you're a flat out unpredictable. Ie, "my button's bigger". I don't think Biden carries that kind of swag. In all matters war, silence is golden when you hold the upper hand. Which we do. jmho.

There’s also the other side of this that making these statements in public, reassures the Ukrainians and strengthens the alliance. It’s definitely a call that has to be made though and has to weighed out.

It was assessed that after a month the Russians simply did not have supplies to continue fighting. This looks to be true considering Russia is saying it’s changing its focus to securing the gains in the east.
The question is, if the Russians do pull back, what does it look like and what will the Ukrainians do?
